Let me offer a couple of other tips that seem to get a generally positive response – learn a few lines of Persian poetry – in English. I’m no poetry fan but some of the Persian stuff is pretty easy to take and to regurgitate. Another is show some knowledge of Persian history. The Roman Empire had a perpetual war with Persia for hundreds of years. Be able to challenge some of the historical myths like the CIA killing whatshisname back after WWII. Of course, don’t go too big – few woman of any culture are looking for a Poindexter – just show that you, unlike most Westerners, have been paying attention.

I am Persian man from Bakhtiari tribe. I am so fed up of rude, materialistic and nasty Persians. Regardless of being born in the USA or whatever. The ones overseas are worse because they have a sense of entitlement (I am better) attitude.
