I’d say there were more White Nationalists than Supremacists (big difference, philosophically), and, based on what I know of a few boots-on-the-ground civilian reporters out there, at least a few are politically ambivalent about the whole question.
      Frankly, if you’re going to tear down a statue of a Civil War figure, go for Grant or Sherman. Grant owned slaves and was almost expelled from West Point for being disobedient and disorderly, while Lee never received a demerit.
      Lee was a great man and an excellent general, by all accounts from both sides of the war. His big crime, in the modernist scheme of things, was choosing not to lead the Northern armies against his home state and his neighbors.
