Why American Education Sucks

Seeing as about a month ago I wrote an article on the decline of fitness training as an organized discipline, and possible ways to redeem it, I started thinking about whether or not this process could be applied to the state of education as well—education being something that I think we all can agree sucks the big one. And much like fitness, modern education has a few deeply buried nuggets of ancient wisdom that can be dug up and polished and made to serve a new generation. But to see that, we must first look at ancient education:

The Ancients

Curiously, when I was reading Aristotle’s Rhetoric, I noticed that a lot of what he discusses was, in fact, very similar to a few things that I recall learning in elementary—the concept of the apparent enthymeme is almost identical to the “if-then” statement that most of us learned in elementary school… and that’s basically the full extent of the rhetorical training we received in our lives.

The first “educated” men were those who had to learn the needlessly complicated systems of writing that existed in the past, such as in Mesopotamia. Once writing was simplified enough for the masses, we see a sea-change in which it appears that the training of any “gentleman” in the past was to make him something of a polymath. For example, in the West, Greco-Roman education involved music, poetry, drama, history, wrestling, ethics, and rhetoric, as well as several different methods of pedagogy such as the famous Socratic method.

Similarly, in the East, Confucian scholars advocated the “Six Virtues” (ranging from archery to calligraphy) as the basis of any educated man’s curriculum, and broadly similar concepts existed in other places in the world as well. The point I’m making is that “mens sane corpore sano” was an ideal across the globe, and continued to be for centuries.

Naturally, from these ancient tomes came the various instances of rebirth of classical education in both East and West, allowing the concept of the well-rounded gentleman polymath to live on around the world for centuries.

Hell, a look at a modern school curriculum still asks you to fulfill all general requirements ranging from English to math to the sciences and many other subjects, so deep down, buried under the sands of time, the ideal is still there. But clearly, we’re not raising a generation of brilliant polymaths, so what the hell happened?

In the modern USA, a staggering amount of high school “Graduates” can’t read at a remedial level. Children in many countries, including but not limited to America, barely know anything about their own country’s history, let alone the histories of other countries. And as the steadily declining PISA scores show, the hard sciences like math aren’t doing so hot either.

We must ask, why is this happening? Every kid literally has the equivalent of the Library of Alexandria at his fingertips, and he chooses to not use it. Why?

Probably not reading Nietzsche

I worked as a teacher for three years, and my father has been one for most of his life (in fact he retired this year) and thus I like to think I have a fair amount of knowledge of the field—and I will tell you outright: I don’t know how to solve this problem. If I had a quick answer, I’d be a billionaire—and no, I’m not joking.

However, I do have a couple of suggestions as to how education (At least in the USA) can be made a little less crappy.

1. It’s not always the teacher’s fault

Teachers get a bum rap often in America; especially from the “fat cuckservative” faction of the Republican party, but from various other factions as well. And certainly some teachers are crappy—and not just the ones who bang their students.

But with that being said, it’s not always the teacher’s fault. This will upset parents who can’t possibly conceive of their precious little angels doing anything wrong. Many (not all, but many) kids are complete shitheads that make the school environment absolutely toxic. Whether its fighting, general fuckery, or just not paying attention, a school can overcome poverty and a lack of supplies, but it absolutely cannot overcome a shitty student body with no desire to learn. And frankly, it shouldn’t be the school’s responsibility to instill discipline. At the risk of sounding cliched; if cohesive families existed in the US, this wouldn’t be a problem.

2. Standardized testing and constant inspections from some ivory tower suit won’t solve anything

Vaguely related to the first issue, I find that a lot of school policies are made by people in the school board who more often than not have little, if any experience actually teaching in a classroom. But naturally they have to justify their massive salaries somehow (spoilers: their salaries are much greater than the actual teacher’s), which leads to the constant shuffling around of curricula and endless standardized testing and stupid shit like Student Growth Objectives that has been yet to be shown to achieve anything.

And really, that’s it. A simple problem to state but impossibly difficult to actually solve—I have seen many idealistic young teachers get chewed up and spit out by the school system and its students.

Conclusion

And all you’d have to do to do this is solve the crappy cultural climate; everything else would follow. You could engender a love of learning, you would see test scores go up, and more importantly, you would see people resembling those fabled polymaths of the past. But that is unfathomably easier said than done—and if you have kids that are beginning school, I’d recommend looking elsewhere beyond the public school system.

    1. “From an early age, we are forced into a mandatory school system that requires and encourages youth to attend for a large portion of their human life, for six hours a day. Each child is required to learn the accepted version of reality in order to fit into the specific mold desired by the elite. Just like television, a large part of school is simply programming. It’s ironic how the same families behind the funding are responsible for many inhumane atrocities that took place throughout history. They are also behind big oil, big pharma, food and other industries that are becoming more transparent as of late. Kids who do not fit into the system and do not resonate with it are usually labelled and medicated. Essentially, the whole point of school is to shape the reality of the student. We are taken from a very early age and put into the institution, from there we are shown how the world works and what we need to do to survive in it. School literally paints the perception that we need to do well in order to have a job so we can make money and pay our bills. It has nothing to do with the type of growth the human being needs. The concept of grades and marks do not signify any level of intelligence. In school we are shown the idea of an authority figure, how the world works and what intelligence is.
      “Never confuse education with intelligence.”
      – Albert Einstein
“I don’t want a nation of thinkers, I want a nation of workers.”
      – John D Rockefeller
“In our dream we have limitless resources, and the people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hand. The present educational conventions fade from our minds; and, unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive rural folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or of science. We are not to raise up among them authors, orators, poets, or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians. Nor will we cherish even the humbler ambition to raise up from among them lawyers, doctors, preachers, statesmen, of whom we now have ample supply.” – Frederick T Gates

    2. American education is doomed because of teachers like the writer of this article.
There was literally nothing in this article of any substance.
      Thanks for wasting our time.

    1. I fucking LOL that I have my own fan club / jock rider. Your comments are getting less shit so keep paying attention son, you are clearly learning at the very least.

  1. State sponsored babysitting. The machine wants both parents working, it’s a facet of it, but a large one. Here in the U. K we owed so much WW2 debt (only paid off the U. S in 2006 or thereabouts) that the more people in the workplace the better.

    1. The cause for this CURRENT state of education is FEMINISM and the de facto Matriarchy in power (by our gynocentric laws courts and government).
Feminism has DESTROYED the education systems, family and the natural order of procreation.
By removing the MALE AUTHORITY but not responsibility (YES PATRIARCHY BASED IN LOGIC AND REASON, NOT FEELZ), and feminisms result is the horrifically PERMISSIVE and perverted agenda, has killed basic discipline and social behavior that used to be administered by MEN. When Men were subverted in fact, the end of society was cast.
The anecdotal proof is rife and rampant. Lazy slovenly disrespectful discourteous self entitled narcissistic and 100% bratty behavior since feminism and the hallmarks of all Female “empowerment”, and that is not even giving just due attention to the perverted sexual relations and activities that feminism has given rise to and public “acceptance” of the homosexual and pedophilic behaviors supported by brainwashed men.
You take women’s rights AWAY completely and restore the patriarchy. We made huge technological gains and forward progress in western society UNTIL Feminism happened.WE can fix EVERYTHING about modern society.

  2. resisting babylon and the relentless onslaught of secular judaic gibberish requires placing christ at the center again. western civilization is doomed without such a return to a life of the spirit. VIVAT CHRISTUS REX.

    1. Well, first we have to learn who Christ really was (real name, wife, number of kids), when he actually lived and who his descendants are. Then we need access to his real writings and point of view. I’m sure this information is known in some circles and has been passed down for about 2,000 years.
Then, we must decide if his teachings are relevant to us and our present situation. If he really was against the “money changers of the temple” or (((Pharisees))), then we need to understand what he did and why he acted. But reading the bible and thinking it’s anything other than a bound stack of intentionally poor translations and agenda-filled editing is fool’s play. Instead, let’s read and judge the original material, wherever it might be.

        1. Although the man known to us as “Jesus” was apparently from the region of Judea (or least spent significant time there), he certainly wasn’t what we now term a “Jew.” That term was created in the 1700s and not used 2,000 years ago. It sounds similar to “Judean” (person from Judea), but obviously means something quite different.
“Jesus” is vilified in the Babylonian Talmud to a great extent, which proves to me that he was very much against the Judaic Pharisees of his day. He was clearly at odds with the people we now term Jews.
It’s likely the “Jesus” was born into a wealthy / noble family, learned the various “secrets” of the elite in places such as India, Egypt and Babylon, and then decided to spread the truth to the masses for reasons unknown. He was clearly a gifted public speaker and motivator. He was also very likely married and had children (3?).
Much of what we are told of “Jesus” in more modern times is actually a mix of Sumerian / Babylonian / Egyptian tales about other mythical characters, such as Horus. In fact, the name “Jesus” is taken from the mythical god, Zeus, and “Christ” simply means the anointed one. Clearly, he had another name and that name was obviously known and recorded by the Romans because they kept records on all prominent “shit disturbers.” The truth will eventually come out.

      1. don’t worry too much or lose yourself in the rumination taught to you by judaic conditioning: “Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40.

      1. Only j ews call themnthe dark ages.
        In truth, society flourished.
Universities, hospitals, great learning and discovery.

        1. @RW You don’t know what you are talking. Most modern universities follow the jesuit curriculum, which is as bad as you can see.

        2. I think your timeline is off. The Dark Ages spanned from the fall of the Roman Empire until at least the Carolingian Renaissance roughly into the 10th century. Europe was completely messed up and even up to the 11th century the Vikings were raiding and colonizing. The first University (of Bologna) wasn’t founded until about 1090 (at which point there were already 3 universities in the Middle East starting a century and a half earlier) and the next half dozen European universities were not completed until almost a century and a half later.

    2. Christians have made their empty threats about Jesus for centuries, namely, that the historical Jesus had terrifying supernatural powers, that he rose from the dead, and that he’ll use these powers to punish us in the afterlife – I guess like Pinhead in those dumb “Hellraiser” movies or something.
The repetition of this threat, generation after generation, doesn’t make it any more credible.

      1. Letters from Pilate to Caesar about Christ are on record at the Smithsonian Institute. We mark time itself with his life.
Jews hate him, Muslims honor him and Christians worship him.
But thx anyway for your worthless opinion.

        1. At best, the name “Jesus Christ” is some sort of honorific title or respectful nickname that was bestowed on an actual man during his lifetime or shortly there afterwards.
At worst, it is a phony, ironic / disrespectful name coined years later meant to misdirect and obfuscate the truth about the life of an actual man that “upset the apple cart” about 2,000 years ago.
Virtually all mainstream accounts / explanations of the life and times of the character known to us as “Jesus Christ” are ludicrous and completely mythological — often pertaining to sun worship or a rehashing of the ancient Horus tale. In this sense, the Zeitgeist videos are correct. But, there must have been a real flesh & blood man who roamed the Middle East and India 2,000 years ago who made a real impact on common people.

  3. “Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach.”
I’ve had a couple phenomenal teachers in my life, of course they were both men. One was a Vietnam helicopter pilot, the only guy who could control the misbehaved jygs with his gentle but powerful energy. The worst teachers were always women who showed favoritism and in some cases were outright abusive to Male students. I remember one in particular who deserved to be burned at the fucking stake. My Dad used to say “if the student hasn’t learned, the teacher hasn’t taught.” I believe this rings true in the majority of cases, placing the responsibility of instruction and learning squarely on the teachers shoulders- where it belongs.

  4. I can surmise from this half-ass article that you definitely did not teach above the high school level, I hope. This is not an honest article and it fails to address the real underlying problems with education, which are myriad and unsolvable.
The system has to be dumbed down because black students only have an average IQ of 85. Scientifically this has been proven to not be the result of nurture but more the design of nature. You inherit your IQ from your parents. The environmental factor was ruled out after closely examining African American foster children raised by white parents to find their IQ is still 85. The same studies were conducted in Europe examining asian children raised by white parents to find the asian IQ was on general higher than the white parents and reflected the asian mean of 105. These studies pretty much empirically disprove the puerile theory that “culture” is the predictor of group intelligence. The culture is a product of the race, after all. Look at the brown shithole countries and you see the realization of their racial spirit.
The average IQ of an elementary school teacher is actually below the mean in America. That is right, elementary school teachers have an average IQ slightly below 100. When looking at the IQ of all teaching professionals that do not teach at the college level you will find that they are all sub-par in their fields, men and women alike. The highest IQ group is mathematics teachers (secondary) who are almost 1 standard deviation above the norm, almost.
The leftists have completed the long march through the institutions with little push back. It is completely over for Academia, there is no way to take it back. 100% impossible. If you really want your children to succeed you will find them a private tutor. Socrates taught Plato, Plato taught Aristotle, Aristotle taught Alexander the Great. You need a polymath tutor, and they are out there.
I make the Alexandria Library statement to my college students all the time. You literally have all the knowledge in the world at your fingertips and you do not utilize it, bizarre right? Not really. You need to understand that people in general are stupid, even white people. Education for the masses is a product of the Industrial Revolution, after which, the market place was in need of workers that could read and do simple arithmetic. It was never about churning out geniuses, those arise on their own.
I still think the point of the education system should be to produce compliant unquestioning sheeple, I just want to be in control of what those sheeple think. I think that is the real issue. We have a bunch of sociopaths that are holding the rungs of power right now, and they do not have the best intentions of the people in mind.

    1. “Culture is the collective phenotype of the people and their genes that make it up.” – E.O. Wilson, progenitor of Sociobiology

    2. “The average IQ of an elementary school teacher is actually below the mean in America.”
It used to be that teaching or nursing were the only professions open to women. As such, they attracted the best and brightest.
That began to change radically in the early 70’s as other (more remunerative and higher status) professions opened up to educated women, shifting that best and brightest cohort away from the classroom. And thus, in turn, the lesser able minded began to fill the ranks. Hence the reported increase of sub-normal IQs in the teaching profession.
That’s only one piece of the puzzle of course; there are many others. But if Johnny Can’t Read, a good deal of it might be that teacher can’t either.
      Hope this helps.
      Just a thought.
      VicB3

      1. I recall seeing a chart showing average IQ by major. Philosophy majors were the highest while education was the lowest or in the bottom 3 in any event. The average for education majors was over 100 but not by much. IIRC social work and accounting were in the basement as well.

    3. “Look at the brown shithole countries and you see the realization of their racial spirit.”
      GRUDGE, GRUDGE and GRUDGE !!
What else can one expect from pussified, pussy whipped and trasy white/pale shithole countries !!

      1. Hindustan, China and the smart Muslims will inherit the earth
I can’t wait to be a Hindustan Brahmin overload in the next 3 decades

        1. Have you lived or travelled to any of those places? From what I’ve seen, all those groups have a long way to go.

    4. “I can surmise from this half-ass article that you definitely did not teach above the high school level, I hope. This is not an honest article and it fails to address the real underlying problems with education, which are myriad and unsolvable. “
No sir, they are SOLVEABLE, its just the solution means killing the problem directly at its source is unpalatable to people who do not wish to disrupt and fix society with drastic measures, a chemotherapy for the cancer that ails us.
The cause for this CURRENT state of education is FEMINISM and the de facto Matriarchy in power (by our gynocentric laws courts and government).

    5. Kmoney you are for the most part right on the money. In the industrial meltdown of the 80s I decided to make a career change and try teaching. What misery became me. I taught history at the high school level and it was painful to say the least. By the mid and late 80s cultural and social rot was well under way. In one urban school I taught they were three dozen or so girls pregnant, white and black alike. In order to keep whites from fleeing they managed to siphon off the smartest kids into “honors” classes which in truth were only a cut or so above the drek being taught to the so called average kids. You had to score a certain level on an IQ test to qualify and even though blacks were held to a lower standard very few managed to qualify. Honors classes were about 5% or so black in a school that was about 40% black. The extreme cultural degeneration among all students was evident, but it was most acute among the black kids. Even those that wanted to try and do well were censored by their homies for acting white. The kids formed cliques, mostly based on neighborhoods. Fights were common both inter and intra racial. In fact the biggest on going feud in the school was among blacks coming from two distinct neighborhoods. What a mess. What misery for me and I was trying with all my might to make a difference. My background is white ethnic urban blue collar so I’m a little rough around the edges myself. I got out of that school and tried a few others and decided it was not for me. Don’t even let me get into the politics. Most teachers and administrators were hard core lefties. It’s so much worse now. Sending your kid to an American public school is more likely than not an act of child abuse.

      1. Please get an edit function. In one urban school I taught THERE were three dozen or so girls pregnant, white and black alike.

  5. The western educational system is set up to indoctrinate children to:
    -become rabid consumers
    -become loyal debtors
    -consume feminism
-convince them that they must go to university ((($$$)))
-be ignorant to their own rights

      1. I see nothing wrong with this. When most of the jobs available post Industrial Revolution were factory jobs that would make sense to train your population to be factory workers, hence the basic arithmetic and reading skills that the elite never found the need to teach the masses. It was simply finally needed as government and business became more complex. Also, if you control the newspapers and media it is much easier to indoctrinate a population that can read then one that is illiterate. Why? Because you can control everything they read.
On the issue of compliance, I see nothing wrong with this. Should the point of a government ran school be to create anarchists and political dissidents, as the system is doing now? I think not. For the sake of governmental continuation and national security it is in the best interest to indoctrinate your population to be compliant to a pre-established order, i.e., the Constitution in America.

        1. I agree but can’t we just Google when the Magna Carta was written and focus more on it’s importance to broader Western Civilization? Memorizing date is lame.

        2. The founding/foundational documents of American society are meaningless if the people and reason that people cite them is beyond the ability of the audience they are cited to cannot and do not have enough intelligence and contextual understanding of what they mean and the societal relevance. Its like Plato or Socrates talking to slaves…it meaningless and so over their heads to be incomprehensible and a futile exercise. Such is what our “educational system” has created of our society. What good is college students or high school students awareness of the documents if they “teachers” are incapable and unable to teach WHAT THEY MEAN, WHY THEY WERE WRITTEN and their intended goal to formulate and create a society of rules and laws such that order and equality is achieved? This is pearls before swine to mention to them because they do not understand the CONTEXT of why they codify and create the foundation of modern “rights” and equality.
you can “teach” utter morons and imbiciles about history, but you cannot teach them to UNDERSTAND its relevance if they cannot grasp the context and purpose for WHY they were drafted or the circumstance that men faced WHEN they drafted them.

    1. and also:
      – to believe a bunch of pseudo-history about minority and female accomplishments
      – to believe diversity is a strength and white pride is a despicable crime

    2. The cause for this CURRENT state of the families is FEMINISM. End of story.
There is a Matriarchy in fact in power (by our gynocentric laws courts and government) has DESTROYED this foundational truth by removing the MALE AUTHORITY AND CONTROL (YES PATRIARCHY BASED IN LOGIC AND REASON, NOT FEELZ), and as a result of its horrifically PERMISSIVE and perverted agenda, has killed basic discipline and social behavior that used to be administered by MEN.
When Men were subverted in fact, the end of society was cast, anecdotal proof, LOOK AROUND YOU ITS OBVIOUS. Lazy slovenly disrespectful discourteous self entitled narcissistic and 100% bratty behavior since feminism.
WE can fix EVERYTHING about modern society. You take women’s rights AWAY completely and restore the patriarchy. We made huge technological gains and forward progress in western society UNTIL Feminism happened.

  6. Carlyle Janesen teaches sex ed by shoving a plastic toy up her snatch for under age students.

    1. Traumatising kids not only with the lesson, but goddamn the visuals for such a fat ugly hag too….Talk about making kids asexual through deliberate trauma. This is the horrific naked face of modern FEMINISM at de facto at work, and the face of the coven that is corrupting and destroying our species. And now Western women are bringing drag queen phaggots in to traumatize even younger kids in kindergarten……and it goes unstopped and unopposed. WHEN THE HELL ARE MEN GOING TO STOP THESE PERVERTS FROM WRECKING OUR SPECIES?

  7. When I was a teacher I remember laughing hysterically when someone suggested that I was somehow responsible for fixing 14-odd years of bad parenting in the 45 minutes per day of contact I ad with the little darlings.

  8. Clark Kent here is a manipulative )ew. He admitted this ages ago in an exchange with me but likely denies it now.

    1. Highly doubtful. His writings have been consistent for years about race, the joosh question, liberalism, and feminism. So how is he manipulating or tricking us???
There have been other suspicious characters and trolls here, but he isn’t one of ’em.
If you are right and he’s trying to hose us, I don’t see what he has accomplished here by making totally redpill and right-wing comments.

      1. The only unfortunate aspect about Clark Kent is the phu-king city he resides in! Only Superman could survive that feminist faggot & 3rd-world hell-hole ! Maybe Mr. Kent will eventually escape hell – like John Dodds did?

  9. In the pic with the kid and the drag queen, it is not the drag queen that’s annoying, the worthless smiling piece of shit in the in background is the pure evil.

  10. Actually failing little Jane and Johnny and basing a seat at an institution of higher learning based on marks not money would go a long way to solving most problems. Many kids are not college material and even less are university.
In the words Judge Smails,”the world needs ditch diggers too.”

  11. Eliminate public education.
Nothing in the constitution about providing an education.
All schooling should either be private or home school.
Taking money from me for other peoples kids is the same as stealing.
And at least 50% of the kids do not need school past 12 or 13.
They can go directly into the trades (if relatively intelligent and skilled with their hands) or menial labor (the rest of them).

    1. One better than home schooling is self schooling. I once read a calculus book in HS over 11th grade summer break in anticipation of all the AP math and sci courses I had signed up for the next year. It took me about two weeks to read through. It wasn’t classical reading. Nothing literate about it but more scratch paper problems and doodling than anything else. The following year I flew through the class as the other students stumbled and learned the formulae for the first time, whereas I had the theory in my head already. It was in my shit by golly.
With the speed of course coverage in the class, I never understood how anyone else in there could learn that stuff for the first time from the inept scribbling on the chalkboard, especially if they hadn’t already sat down and gotten into a peaceful zone and self taught themselves the stuff already. That’s the way to learn most book tech – by yourself. Just read the book.
So I sat through most of the year knowing the stuff already. The class was coed so I stared at asses and tits. I fantasized about nearly every smart chick in there. It was sugarplum visions of passionate kissing and caressing and emptying my balls into the pristine snatch of the chick in front of me or beside me that preoccupied my mind as the teacher rambled on. Dang if I had only had game back then I would have made a real mess of a lot of uppity females and their silly career ambitions since I had only a rudimentary moral compass as best when I was 16. Looking back a few of the chicks were rock solid fine ass but virtually none became prolific breeders later in life. Getting a high IQ chick to breed in the west is like pulling teeth. Hitler had it right when he awarded German women the honored gold ‘MUTTERKREUZ’ upon the birth of their eighth child. The bronze Mutterkreuz or “Cross of Honour of the German Mother” was awarded for producing 4-5 offspring and silver for 6-7, gold for 8+. Upon birth of the tenth, Hitler appointed himself the godfather of the child. The award was first initiated on Mother’s day 1939 and three million German women qualified. Yeah Hitler had a way of snapping those busy beavers in the right direction.

  12. I was one of fourteen teachers on a Military base for two years who taught a GED course for incoming recruits. Our students had high (VERY HIGH) entry test scores, but “no papers”.
We spent three weeks, ten-hour days, six-day weeks teaching the GED curriculum. They took the test the last day and got their results from an independent facility the following Monday. If successful, they proceeded to Basic Training (Boot Camp).
We taught over 2700 students in a two year period. By definition all of our students were dropouts. Fourteen actually failed the GED.
    Repeat for emphasis:
Fourteen out of over two thousand and seven hundred failed to graduate.
    1. We . had . NO . SCHOOL . BOARD . Full Stop.
    2. We also had no discipline issues. I raised my voice toward a student one time in two years. I caught myself three words into a bellow and called the Sergeant from the hall. HE removed said student from the classroom. They returned an hour later. The student was somewhat sweaty, dirty and gasping for breath. Said student requested permission to resume studies and that problem ended. Full Stop.
    3. Twelve teachers taught six ten-hour days and two rotated as tutors on Sundays. Every teacher came to class at 6:30 in the morning with a GREAT attitude and left smiling or laughing. We ate lunch as a group two or three times a week.
    4. The school was shut down when the Military started meeting its recruiting goals in spring. Many recruits had college degrees and GED candidates were no longer needed.
These were some of the brightest young people I have ever had the pleasure of teaching.
I was career Navy. I would “go through a door” with most of these troops. If an old sailor says that about doggies, they’re good GI’s! They were also dropouts. The education system failed them.

    1. The boiled down answer to your whole comment. MALE driven DISCIPLINE creates success. God bless you for your efforts and service, as a fellow veteran. you made all those MENs lives better than they would have ever had.

  13. The education system is fine. Its the “I don’t care” attitude of young people that needs to be fixed. You can’t help someone that doesn’t wanna be helped. This is why the children of immigrants do so well in our education system. As a child of an immigrant myself I can attest to this personally. Its a do or die scenario for us, the fear that if we don’t do well than we’re screwed and we’ll let our entire family down. American children don’t have that same mentality. Most are contempt with a life of mediocrity. They don’t care if they let their parents down because the parents themselves don’t care if their kids barely graduate high school and end up in community college. Blame the left, the right or whoever. I saw just as many lazy liberal kids as I did conservative kids. I don’t know about other schools, but I grew up in a relatively well off New York town and even my school had more than 60% of kids end up going to the local communinity college.

    1. Just curious what region of NY and for high school, did you ever switch to a charter school, Catholic school, or some other preparatory school?

    2. The system gives an automatic 50% for putting your name on a test paper. That’s not “fine”. That’s WHY students are “contempt” with mediocrity.
I have taught school. I have also done commercial electrical work. I was career Navy. I was accustomed to GETTING THINGS DONE.
The school system does not care — DOES NOT CARE — about getting things done.
The process is more important than the product.
      That’s why public schools fail.

  14. Every time I see that THING with children, poisoning their minds, I want to skin it, drown it in gasoline and light it up. God will smite the souls of all progressives and degenerates.

  15. I only had a few years of public school (grades 1-3) and it was awful. I learned nothing there, except that most people kind of suck. Maybe not that bad for kids of average intelligence (provided the social environment is relatively healthy), but when you’re 3 or 4 standard deviations above the median, it’s agonizing – and they’d never let me skip a grade. I spent so much time sitting at my desk doing nothing because I’d be done with all of my work before the teacher even started making the rounds to help the other kids figure it out. The teachers would try to find things for me to do so I wouldn’t be bored, which was nice until the other kids hated me for it.
My father had a similar experience being bored and not really challenged at all in school, and (thank God) he let me drop out of elementary school to homeschool me instead.
Intelligence is hereditary. I come from a long line of smart people, and I can attest that being a genius doesn’t do you a damn bit of good in public school. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if at least one of my boys is smarter than I am. No way in hell I’m letting the public school system get ahold of either one of them – not even a reasonably conservative one. They can learn more from digging holes in the yard and throwing rocks in the river than sitting at a desk twiddling their thumbs waiting for everyone else to catch up.

    1. Education is wasted on women, you should have stayed home while your mom taught you to cook.

      1. Tell me something I don’t know. That’s essentially what happened, I dropped out of public school and focused entirely on domestic skills at home instead (although I did eventually have to engage in some pretty serious B.S. quantification of “hours spent” on the various subjects required by the state to keep them off my dad’s back).
Unfortunately, my mother left my father when I was a kid (which I think has a lot to do with why I ended up in public school in the first place) – but she’d already taught me how to cook. I was pretty much the family cook by the time I was 12.
Of the five hundred million things that might be wrong with me, lack of domestic skills ain’t one of ’em.

        1. Yeah well, then I let myself get pressured into starting college at 16, so…
And I hated every moment of it, and was painstakingly aware the entire time that I would never use my degree for anything.
Believe me, if I’d thought I could pull off getting married at 16 (or, frankly, 12) without someone ending up in jail, I’d have done that instead.
When I was still a wee lass, I remember my dad asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and if I’d thought about college someday. I got all sassy, hands on my hips and everything, and told him that I did NOT need to go to college to have babies!
I should have listened to me.
Our education system sucks because everyone is forced into it and not everyone belongs there. Everyone doesn’t even need to be all that literate. Walk into any bookstore and pick up any book written in the last few decades, and it has an ALARMING likelihood of being garbage. Anything that is easily accessible to the masses gets shat all over by the lowest common denominator.

  16. In the classical age only wealthy aristocrats would even possibly attain an actual education. Until about the end of the 19th century, the world’s literacy rate sat around 10%. In modern America today, it is recorded at 90% and I could argue it’s much lower.
The harsh truth is most people are dull, lack curiosity, or don’t care about any intellectual pursuits. That or your peers, teachers, and administration at school will beat it out of you the same way bosses, colleagues and corporations will try to bludgeon your ambitions.
When I really think about it, the absolute fuckery of school is probably one of the things leading to most of us becoming red pilled.

    1. You hit the nail on the head. We should also ask ourselves if education beyond a certain point is for everyone. Should the children of farmers and factory workers with average intelligence who will follow in their parents’ footsteps really be taking calculus and high school physics? It seems like a huge waste of time for them and teachers along with taxpayer dollars. Education was turned utilitarian to cram everyone into a a dumbed down assembly line that wastes average people’s time and is too dull for the intellectually exceptional.

      1. Exactly, it has become just utilitarian dribble to make everyone a useless idiot. School is not made for everyone and that’s okay. I’ve met many well off and wise (not to be confused with intelligence as there is a difference) farmers, chefs, welders, and builders who were dragged through school kicking and screaming. The thing that dissapoints me the most with school is just how many practical skills could have been taught like first aid, how to file tax returns, how to start a business, or how to change a flat tire. Instead, no one was able to actually get a proper amount of sleep during a pretty critical period of adolescence.

  17. Education fails coz we let any retard become a teacher.
In the same way hospitals would fail if we let retards study medicine. (Which we will soon be allowing btw, but that’s another story.)
A good teacher could completely educate a boy by 16, and a girl by 14.
    Boys:
Physical fitness, grammar, logic, rhetoric, history, basic mathematics.
16 yo, time to gtfo of school, 2 years military service, then career/college
    Girls:
physical fitness, domestic skills, basic literacy.
14 yo, time to gtfo of school, 2 years finishing school BS, get married, have kids.
Teaching someone properly is an intricate art requiring a finely tuned balance of verbal dexterity, a voluminous intellect, and commanding but inspiring rhetorical skill. Not something to be left in the hands of any idiot.

  18. Item 1: ABSOLUTELY TRUE..and full stop.
Larsen Halleck. this is where you fix EVERYTHING about modern society. You take women’s rights AWAY completely and restore the patriarchy. We made huge technological gains and forward progress in western society UNTIL Feminism happened.
Better than half the voting public: WOMEN
90% of consumerism and commercialism is aimed at : WOMEN
Courts favor 80% of the time: WOMEN
Courts punish women at less than 80% of the penalties by law.
Legislatures consistently aim 90% of new laws at protection of : WOMEN
99% of all marketing and commercials are aimed at: WOMEN
Rise of convenience appliances and PROCESSED instant microwaveable foods in the 50s 60s and 70s…: Wait for it……WOMEN.
I KNOW my post will created hatred and negative votes, but I don’t care at all. It is the very bitter truth about our state as a species and it has ONLY ONE cure and fix. I don’t care if anyone likes it. There is no other option or else there would be attempts to repair society with real results. As long as the bleeding vagina rules even unofficially, we are f*ked and not in a good way.

      1. You are a “woman”. Of course you do. You contradict every man as a matter of feminism and lesbianism. Symbolic of the perversions you represent and live.

  19. As a former teacher who admires his father’s long teaching career, it’s no wonder the author hones in on misguided parental influences and ignores the teacher unions in this country. The American Federation of Teachers is an outdated protectionist outfit that keeps atrocious teachers in the schools siphoning taxpayer funds. Parents have no influence in a system that requires legal action to fire an incompetent teacher. Junk teachers are as big a problem as unruly kids.

    1. Absolutely true, but every time you bring this inconvenient fact up around a teacher they will close ranks and defend each other, citing spurious arguments like NATALT. I would wager that around a third of our public school teachers are unfit for the job, and another third of them need a six-month bootcamp to refresh their skills before they are allowed back in the classroom.
Public Unions are a catastrophe, and we should push Trump to dismantle them if he wins a second term. It would go down as one of the best things he ever did.

  20. I have one more suggestion, throw out these counselors and child psychiatrist #1 they are as useless as HR departments #2 drugging kids makes education performance worse not better.

  21. Institutes of higher learning
all need to be shut down with
    all the professors and lecturers
    stripped of their citizenships!!

  22. What (North) America needs for K-12 is more choice in education. In particular, more private, charter schools (either for profit or not for profit).
Parents are given a national, universal education voucher for each child based on their age. Parents can choose to apply to any school and the schools are free to set their own acceptance criteria. Tuition can be set above the voucher amount but there is a premium tax that is plowed back into the entire public/private education system. Staff and faculty are hired and fired individually although unionization laws of general application would still allow for the certification of bargaining units.
Each grade level has a standardized, multiple choice, machine-scored exam covering the basics of math, science, English literacy and civics. Comprehensive exams are given either at grade 8 or grades 6 and 9, culminating in a final grade 12 exam similar to the GED.
Other than the SAT or ACT it would fall on post secondary institutions to create any program-specific admission criteria.
School entry requirements and exam results would be publicly available for parents to see including comparative analysis.
Home schooling is a separate consideration and unfucking colleges and universities would require a separate post/tome to discuss.
(For what it is worth, I have 7 years of university; spent 4 years teaching business, economics and accounting inter alia in the private high school system in Canada; and now have been teaching ESL in China, at the high school level, for the past 6 years.)
