1. I remember back in 2007 when I was a young adult and was basically just an average dude. A friend of mine gifted me The Game by Neil Strauss. Back then it helped me a lot to kill social anxiety and start up conversations with girls, strangers and understand how the dating scene worked in the US and Europe. Looking back now I felt that PUA relied too much in pretending to be something you are not. PUA is like riding a tricycle it can only get you so far…. you learn some cool quotes and moves to get chicks into you and then get laid but thats it.
   But if you dont how to make a girl like you for who you really are she will soon see through your facade and lose interest in you. I think the Redpill movement is way better cause it teaches you the truth about women and how to really improve yourself instead of trying to fake somehting you are not.

I personally think religion and politics are a private matter. People shouldn’t use it to base their friendships or romances off of like everything does now and for what?              The truth is I don’t know right now what will replace it (maybe Islam?). Atheism is not the answer either. That is why I try not to touch on religion too much because I don’t have a solution. 5. On the one side it’s sad to see the PUA Community die, because it helped me a lot. 12. You’re probably giving too much credit to the MM and feminism. PUA didn’t necessarily die it evolved…from focusing on women to focusing on yourself i.e. the red pill. The time period you described feature developments that were far more influential in the decline of PUA. First and foremost social media and the smartphone (started in 2005/2006 really to took off in 2009, dating apps were launched around 2011/2012) killed the club (the PUA’s playground). Most of this hooking up stuff moved online. Traditional PUA’s did not adapt well enough to this new reality. Secondly, their output was too large which created overkill…many women read and watched the materials themselves…it became predictable…again they didn’t adapt well to this by being innovative. Simply put: it was technological development that changed human interaction from face-to-face to contact via hightech devices, minus the adaptability and innovativeness required to survive in such an environment which forced it to evolve into something more sustainable. Nothing to be sad about, just the natural process adaptation.
    Getting pushback from the MM doesn’t necessarily hurt you if the audience is receptive to your message, just look at: Milo, Jordan Peterson and Trump. In fact it might just help you.

    I was rather late to the PUA game (pun intended), being just another AFC (Average Frustrated Chump) with women. But in 2010, my eyes were opened to the PUA world when I discovered the Pickup Podcast (now called The Art of Charm and has evolved from being PUA focused to being more about generally more socially adept). Sure, I’ve heard about pickup artists before but the concept never really clicked for me until 2010 when I had the realization that I needed to step up my game. The saying “when the student is ready, the teacher appears” is so true.
    Eager to learn, I devoured podcasts, books, and YouTube videos. So let me give a big “Thank you!” to Jordan Harbinger, David Wygant, and David Deangelo. You guys changed my perspective and really made a difference with my game and my life. Thanks to overcoming my AFC-ness, I found a quality woman and we’ve been married for over 5 years now.

    1. PUAs had no convictions. They weren’t masculine so much as able to memorize some great routines that made them appear attractive.
    2. It was a lifestyle. Most men don’t won’t to spend that long to get good pick-up.
    3. It didn’t actually help men accomplish things. When men get strong, get money, accomplish things, face their fears, live fulfilling lives, they naturally become more attractive to women. Once that happens it only takes a few easy lessons in charisma to teach a guy how to seal the deal.

    I tried pick-up for a while. It didn’t work. The routines and stuff were solid but I was the problem. The best way to learn pick-up is to overcome obstacles in every area of your life. Hit the gym hard to be more physically attractive. Once I started doing that things started falling in to place with women. 16. I’ve always attributed the PUA movement and community to be a product of its times. It developed beginning in the late 90’s on the old newsgroups then slowly became mainstream after The Game was published. Here you had a younger generation where the women had been indoctrinated with feminism “you can have it all, gurrlll power” but men had yet to catch up with their fathers still telling them “women respect men who respect ladies, etc. etc.”. For women, they largely did not recognize the “old rules” while most men, the bulk of who are natural betas, were still playing by those rules. Game was the answer for those betas who didn’t realize the rule book had completely changed.
    I discovered game in the early 2000’s by reading archived newsgroups. At first it puzzled me as it went against everything I had been told and my mediocre success with women. What woman is going to like me more because I gently make fun of her? I would say to myself only then to try it and find out it actually worked. After about a year of self study and experimentation I had developed some decent game. Probably went from a greater beta to a lesser alpha. But crossing the beta/alpha divide produced a greater number of results then I could have ever imagined even though there were definitely more alpha/naturals out there I would encounter.
    Game didn’t really become organized until around 2003-2004. Blogs started to pop up around then and you could find some independently published books. The founders like “Mystery” were out doing “self-improvement” seminars entitled so to partially deceive the media and also because I don’t think they knew what else to call it. (I went to one about 2004ish and it was eye opening at the time). Obviously the flood gates opened and the PUA community officially emerged when The Game was published.
    It flourished for the next 5-7 and would say it started to trail off around 2012. The second election of Obama and the rise of the millennial generation put an end to it. There was another new playbook where men were just shit and all were rapists and women were powerful peaceful creatures that must walk over the other sex. Previously I would call the reigning sentiment among women “libertarian” of sorts. You can do what you want prevailed. Now it was definitely authoritarian. Game as it became more mainstream became the target of this new feminist authoritarianism. And largely by 2013-2014 its decline was rapid. What were PUA blogs switched formats more towards “men’s blogs” still carrying game articles but also discussing more politics, self improvement, men’s issues.
    There is also a technological component to the decline. Up until about 2010 it was rare that every woman had a computer in her pocket that she could not keep her eyes off of during any social encounter. Also women went out at night of the purpose of mate seeking. Now they go out to be seen online by snapping pictures of their group at the new popular venue in town. If there is any flirting that goes on it is usually online through various platforms.
    PUA was really and truly a “moment in the pan” counter-culture movement. I think vestiges of it will survive for years to come but we will never see the hay day of the mid 2000’s of it that were.

17. I am new to the manosphere, and I guess if there is any corner (MRA, MGTOW, PUA, Red Pill) of it I somewhat subscribe to, it would probably be MGTOW/Red Pill, which seems to be the confluence that all of them have emptied into in terms of relevance.
    ‘The Pickup Arist’ movie was from 1986, so clearly something was going on long before 2005, but perhaps not as some collective movement and instead the basic concept.
    I didn’t take the manosphere or its vernacular (alpha, beta, simp etc) seriously until last year, but after seeing its vocabulary and narratives everywhere, I conceded that it, along with the Austrian School (despite its useless application), is now the lingua franca of the Alt-Right.
    I particularly did not take PUA seriously and wondered what it had to do with politics, but after binging on nearly all Roosh videos last week, I realized that it is very similar to the phrenology of the Gilded Age. It served a purpose for about 10 years, but technology rendered it obsolete. Although with phrenology, the now-worthless knowledge/skills were then rediscovered during the Eugenics Era as a sort of frame-of-reference, just like ‘Game’ seems to be utilized right now as the Red Pill (and First Amendment advocacy) for psychoanalyzing women with antifeminist-patriarchal critique rather than just an anachronistic operating-system for romance.
    I work in the service industry and the numbers do not lie…nightlife is dead, restaurants are dead…actually, consumerism itself is dying. Only the Baby Boomers still continue with their archaic routines like watching Jeopardy and the nightly news on time or reading a newspaper…and going out at night. So something has to give.
    The only quasi-PUA I engage in is attending Mardi Gras, but each year the fun has dwindled. I prepare for it months in advance. Somehow I always manage to lose my gut and get ripped again in the last 6 weeks. This year I did not get the abs poking through all the way, but I went to such herculean effort that I had an inception of blisters on my heal to the point that I limped and my socks were bloody everyday, and threw out my back with every wrong move. The starvation of eating nothing but eggs, boiled carrots and salad really got to me…so all this hard work is no longer worth it.
    Women have gotten breathtakingly fat, putrescent, and more incorrigible. If you have ever fingered a fat chick, it is like petting the snout of a walrus that rolled around in gravy and letting it breath on you with its anticlimactic dirty talk…’Did you know I watch porn?’ as they give a play-by-play of the mutual fap session in public.
    Cost-benefit analysis
    It has never really fun to begin with. I only do certain things to ‘create a memory’ and to know I have not missed out on anything. For two weeks after I return from Mardi Gras, I am always very sick, pulling ropes of mucus from my throat and nose so thick I could jump-rope with it if it were longer. I get so congested that I cannot breath (I think I had the Eric Garner flu strain this year lol), can barely hear or swallow and have an unending migraine. It makes sleep very difficult and you can feel fluid sloshing around in your head every time you move. Actually, I have come to realize that the greatest feeling ever (better than sex, drinking or an emergency bathroom break) is towards the end of sickness when you blow your nose so thoroughly that it all just empties out and everything stops aching instantly.
    All the variables of my ‘haunt’ have depleted: Less people (more ghetto rodents), which seems beneficial, but it isn’t because women are not ‘tricked’ – they are entirely driven by the ambiance. If a lot of other women are not doing something, they will not either. But if other women are doing something, they will do anything. Less people = lesser ambiance. Actually too many women creates an even weirder environment that shuts off female sexuality entirely and turns into a gossip mill.
    Two years ago, I made out with at least one girl for each hour I was there (roughly 8 hours a night, 4-5 days), and I sucked on dozens of breasts and went from various groups of women (married, engaged, boyfriends around the corner etc) and induced them to pull my member out in public. Some even have their mothers watching and sisters/friends filming as they stroke me;
    This year it dwindled to maybe 5 times total, but I did actually climax for once (these things take time).
    I do not enjoy any of this because it is too stressful worrying about cops and snitches everywhere. Some even jerked me next to the holy rollers because DANGER is what attracts women. 58. I went to college back during ’02-’06. Right when the PUA stuff was really getting out there. I was terrible at attracting women and getting dates at a school at was over 70% women. For the life of me I couldn’t get anything past a first date, if even that. I had come across “Double your dating” by Deangelo. It was the whole CD set and work book. I followed along and yes at the time it did work. I got a whole lot more numbers, was able to get my attraction up, had a lot of good openers that I used to break the ice, etc. However I did something that Deangelo had warned me against, using his material to get with a girl that had already rejected me. In the beginning it worked and I got the girl interested in me again, but ultimately I failed at keeping my composure whenever I was around her and reverted back to my blue pill self.
