Lynyrd Skynyrd Concert Footage From 1977 Showed That Even California’s Women Were Once Beautiful

Lynyrd Skynyrd gave a concert at Oakland—July 2, 1977—part of their Street Survivors Tour. Three of their songs, including their iconic closing number ‘Free Bird’, are captured on video. They returned on Independence Day for another show.

They left here tomorrow, but we still remember

Tragedy would strike soon. On October 20, their plane crashed, killing three band members. The pilots died as well, also one of the managers. The other passengers were hospitalized. Although it’s grim to contemplate what would happen less than four months later, the video is actually a touching testament to their lives. The band’s enthusiasm is powerful, likewise the crowd in the packed stadium.

It’s also a poignant memory of the America that once was. By today’s standards, the audience was unbelievably normal. Musical genres often attract a specific demographic, and ticketholders are self-selected. Therefore, this wasn’t a completely representative sample of the local population. Still, the contrast between then and now is stunning.

The fans were young Baby Boomers, a generation often considered flawed (though Millennial snowflakes are getting a worse rap). This was 1977, the embarrassingly inept Carter Presidency’s first year. Hippies were still around, though falling out of fashion. That decade was somewhat tacky and weird (though charmingly innocent by today’s standards). Still, you certainly couldn’t tell from this footage!

A sea of unadorned beauty

These types were nowhere to be seen. (Yes, the lower left is what you think it is. Further “details” below not shown.)

Many young ladies gathered near the stage. (Perhaps they liked the looks of the musicians even more than their songs!) Typically hair was below shoulder length, and none chopped short like a diesel dyke. There certainly were no shaved heads or Skrillex cuts (both were punishments for adultery in ancient times). Not a single one had weird colored hair like a clown. I couldn’t tell if any of them had dye jobs; any who did stuck to natural colors and touched it up well.

None were pierced up like pincushions. Facial ironmongery was completely absent; not even a single bull ring through the nose. The ladies certainly weren’t inked up like sailors. I noticed only two tattoos—one of the band members, and the guy toward the end smooching his cutie as the show closed.

Concerning body types, nobody was even near the chub zone. None had a heroin chic appearance either, which gay fashion designers like to promote these days. (I’ll give a potential girlfriend a break for some extra meat on her bones within reason, though beyond a certain point, she’d better have a stellar personality and be a freak in bed.) Still, I must say, those concertgoers really hit the sweet spot with graceful curves.

None of them were glued to smartphones—those didn’t exist then, but it’s a refreshing break. Makeup was tasteful—no Tammy Faye pancakes or clownish styles—and I suspect most were just that beautiful without needing it. They were well-dressed too. Many wore bikinis, but the effect was still wholesome. All told, they radiated maidenly charm and innocence, almost angelic.

So normal it seems unreal

There weren’t any guys like this either. Actually, I’m not quite sure what some of these specimens are.

The guys in the audience tended to be modestly buff, no beach ball bods. Were they all into the recent jogging and health food fads? No, that’s simply how most people were. The guys in the audience looked pretty straight-laced; except the two at the very end passing a joint. The band members were longhaired and a bit edgier. (Some occasionally had major substance abuse fuckups, unfortunately rather common for celebrities.) This could’ve been called the Ivory Soap concert, for one reason because it was 99.44% pure.

Again, the audience wasn’t an exact cross-section of the local population. Oakland actually did look like that prior to WWII, though demographics had changed much by 1977. Since then, the “gringo” population has fallen by about half, much like Philadelphia. Oakland is considered among the USA’s most diverse cities. (Whether that was an improvement is certainly a matter of opinion.)

Reagan won California’s numerous electoral votes three years later, but it’s been a blue state ever since. Ted Kennedy’s strategy of stuffing the ballot box through population replacement immigration really got results. Could a Dixie rock band fill Oakland’s Coliseum like that now, with enough interested locals remaining for a repeat act two days later?

Most think of mid-1970s California as still being jam-packed with hippies. However, the “square” culture actually constituted the majority, although the counterculture is better remembered today. This was so even during the late 1960s. Male hippies did resemble cavemen with love beads, and were notoriously allergic to soap. However, the female hippies usually had a pretty wholesome appearance, and at least slathered on the patchouli. Both sexes of today’s imitators, the hipsters, look like Martians.

You might suspect the audience was from some pristine corner of Eastern Europe, as yet unspoiled by degeneracy. No, this was America, nearly 41 years ago. I couldn’t help shedding a tear, much like the American Indian surrounded by litter in the public service announcement from those times. My country got trashed too.

The rebel flag

If Malcolm X regalia and the like is OK, then why not this?

The Confederate battle flag was prominently displayed at the back of the stage, about 25 feet across. It was nothing remarkable back then. However, during the 1990s, the climate of persnickety political correctness started making people mighty prickly about that. Lately, it’s been removed as a design element in some Southern state flags. A rock band displaying a large Confederate battle flag today, near the buckle of the Granola Belt, would run great risk of setting off a tectonic level of triggering. In fact, that might touch off the Big One and cause California to sink underneath the ocean.

Why all the recent fuss? Today, General Lee’s emblem often means no more than Southern heritage, with a streak of rugged independence. However, to some degree, it’s become an unofficial symbol for White pride. Well, we can’t have that, now can we?

Marcus Garvey’s Pan-African flag—red, black, and green—explicitly symbolizes armed struggle by Blacks for the African homeland. (You’ll see a lot of those at reggae concerts.) Several flags in Africa are similar to this design; including the militant meaning (Kenya’s even features crossed spears and a shield). Some other flags have dissimilar designs, but likewise use the color black in an explicitly racial context.

This isn’t controversial, and I don’t mind either. I’m also fine with the Malcolm X clothing designs that once became quite popular. It’s not time to get rid of the rebel flag, but rather the rotten double standards.

The once and future Western civiliation

So California is the chief state of the Left Coast. Still, it was pretty normal once, and even had a conservative majority. Right across the bay from Oakland is San Francisco, which itself retains a certain charm although suffering from toxic granola levels, among other peculiarities. Back then, the nuttiness was mainly confined to neighborhoods like Haight-Ashbury. Other than those, San Francisco wasn’t yet all pozzed out, but soon would be, and also in a literal sense.

So the video shows what normal America looked like four decades ago, before cultural Marxism and degeneracy reached peak convergence. Unfortunately, the infection began spreading across the USA and far abroad too. Although it won’t be easy, it’s time to start getting back to normal, and the sooner the better.

  1. Excellent observations. But I cannot watch the videos; they make me far too sad.

I was just old enough (Born 1974) to sort or remember the era and the 1960’s didn’t END until about 1982. If you remember FIRST BLOOD, Stallone is kicked out of a town for looking like a hippie.
People tend to romanticize the era but it seemed as crazy to people born in the 1930’s in their forties as the world seems to us today. Porn was playing in movie theaters. People were stoned everywhere and ludes were going around like M&M’s, enabling date rapists like Cosby.
Prisons were a revolving door unlike today. Crime was actually higher. Blacks were no less revolutionary than now. You’ve forgotten about the wars in Philly between that crazy Italian mayor and the Black Panthers when he blew the house up. Or Patty Hearst.
I’d say, however, that the hippies were out of style by 1977. Disco came in at that point and the Me Decade replaced any pretense of Revolution-nobody wanted to overthrow the government by 1977.
As for marijuana, everybody smoked it but it was not NEARLY as strong as it is today.
At the height of my pot-smoking days in the 90’s marijuana was nowhere near as strong as now.
Cocaine really did not hit the suburbs until the 1980’s.
As for the election of Carter, nobody wanted a right-winger in 1977. They were reeling from Nixon and Ford.

      1. Porn was for degenerates and produced and distributed by j ews. Same with so called gentlemen clubs. Only degenerates went there. Sleazy.
Otherwise much of what you type is correct.

        1. R E
If porn is so degenerate why is Gen Y so obsessed with porn?
          Sure, its ALWAYS been around.
But Gen X and Boomers did not hang around sex stores watching porn loops all day.
Why do Gen Y jerk off to porn 3 x a day?

      2. The crazy Italian mayor of Philadelphia was Frank Rizzo, but he wasn’t in charge when that house blew up. Rather, it was Wilson Goode, Philly’s first black mayor.

        1. I’ll take Frank Rizzo or Richard Daley Sr. over any of the shitlib traitor-class mayors that currently infect Seattle, Portland, or San Fransicko.

        2. SESTAMBI
New York City for example, was much more dangerous in the 70’s and 80’s than it is today.
The irony of the original Death Wish is that Arizona was depicted as being a utopia and New York as hellish.
Now, because of Mestizo crime and the cartels, the opposite is true.

      3. And all these puritanical white girls (lol) grew up to marry (if hadn’t already), then divorce their husbands, running them through the ringer: kicking them out their own homes, getting alimony and child support, then kicking their kids out at age 18 after the support payments stopped. Let’s not forget, no-fault-divorce was signed into law by governor Reagan in 1970! Go ahead and become nostalgic if you wish, but don’t pretend cuckservatism wasn’t a thing among white anglo America, they invented it! You reap what you sow.

    2. @Mr Penn…Ya, those days were pretty much made by the demographic. Even if there were stoners and weirdos they at least were more well behaved and civilized than the idiots today. At least the hippies (mostly) back then knew when to act proper around their grandma, or other formal events. The homogenous culture and demographic also increased things like social cohesion which is something that A LOT of people take for granted today, biology and our primal wiring are something you shouldn’t take for granted. However, the society was already beginning to decline in that era and those people’s ambivalence and complacency towards it is what helped that degeneracy grow. I am sure most of those hippies were all for amnesty (omg, think of the beautiful children). Yep, what that concert symbolized was the baby boomer generation having all the fun, while the next generations would suffer the consequences. OH, and pretty much all the women in that audience were probably whores and were total feminists. But hell, at least stoner hippies and feminists at least liked good music back then. BTW, voting for Reagan (a president who still gave into feminism and amnesty) was probably more or less due to the old people back in those days. Many of the people in the audience there probably didn’t give a rats ass about Reagan.

“Better behaved than today”. Actually, white youth street gangs were FAR more of a problem than today (Watch the juvenile documentary with Sean Penn BAD BOYS for a look at a time when juvenile facilities had equal numbers of Polish, Irish, Swedish, Jewish, hillbillies).
Far FEWER whites are comtmiting the sort of crimes Mick O’Brien did when that film was made. There are less feral white kids roaming the streets committing the crimes they did then.
        “Homogeneous”
In fact, whites were less “blended” and still hyphenated in the seventies. Your parents for example, were probably the children of single-nationality Europeans. In the 70’s there were Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans, German-Americans, Polish-Americans…white Americans had a singular cultural identity that was dispersed as the suburbs were built and they moved out of the cities.
If you watch DEATH WISH or SCARFACE the cities were MORE DANGEROUS than now. People were shot in front of 70 witnesses. NYC had 2000 murders per year.
MS-13 and other Mestizo gangs are horrendous, but they DON’T HAVE the political power of the Italians.
Italian Mafia RAN unions and cities like Vegas. They killed cops and judges and GOT AWAY WITH IT.
The Italian mafia is gone now.
Certain black and Mestizo urban population centers are worse today but this is because of WHITE FLIGHT. The Irish, Italians, Polish, Jews, Germans etc. just moved to the suburbs and took their tax money with them. And of course blacks, unable to create a GDP, were abandoned and now the cities have gotten to the point of Flint or Detroit.

      2. WES
        “Stoners”
More white kids did cocaine in the 80’s than they do today. I’m sure.
Remember that a hippie or stoner can go to the Hair Salon and get a crew cut, cover up the tattoo of Judas Priest on their shoulder and buy some casual dress clothes. So 20 minutes later they look like “Reagan Youth”. That is what happened.
When you have tattoos on your face and piercings all over it is a little bit more difficult.
Also, the economy was better. There were entry-level jobs.
Finally, no Soros was funding the hippie movement. It had no economy to stand on period. You cannot overthrow the government by selling hits of LSD on Haight-Ashbury.

        1. Most of the student protesters and hippies just didn’t want to get drafted. Still, at the top levels, there was much collusion between radical subversives.
For one example, the Weathermen had alliances with dozens of groups – many Communist – both in the USA and abroad. They even took a trip to Havana for a big conference. How the hell they did all that before the days of email, while they were on the run from the law and packed into secret safe houses, is entirely inexplicable without coordination from networks similar to the Soros outfits today.

    3. You don’t see normal people much anymore because half of the population in the ‘West’ is Annunaki. A 29 year old liberal woman today had an abusive, Annunaki father and a human ‘white’ mother.

    4. The key thing to notice in that video was the demographics was predominantly White. The American flag was proudly respected as well. You want to know what ruined America? Immigration.
Oakland and neighboring San Francisco is now infiltrated with Asians, Chicanos, and Indian. It seriously looks like a third world country now. If you go out to any bar or nightlife venue, be prepared to deal with H1B Indian fobs. As a result, women in the Bay Area play even hard to get given the amount of foreign boys, and soy boys that are prevalent. If you an American flag bumper sticker on your car, be prepared to have you vehicle vandalized by some foreign illegal migrant, or some liberal SJW nazi.
Gone are the good old days of how America used to be great. All thanks to immigration. It’s the real reason why Hollywood movies have gone down the shitter, and even our music is nothing but from non-talented immigrant artists like Cardi B or Camila Cabello spewing broken English lyrics and appealing to the other foreign immigrants in the country.

    5. The problem.
White music today is talent less formulaic shit. It just can’t compete against Latino music. Just one example here from Wisin, great and original music, brilliant words (sorry, you don’t understand Spanish) and the video is a work of art featuring cool guys, talented dancers and beautiful women. Probable because (((they))) have less control over Latino music.

      1. And Again,
Nothing worth listening from white singers since the 70s, but in Thailand there are many talented singer like Burn Batumrat, great music and the music videos are a work of art. (((They))) have no input or control.

        1. No good white singers huh? Try some Chris stapleton and get back to old timer. Every old man since the dawn of time has had your attitude.

        2. Again I can’t figure out if you’re being facetious here… 진짜 수준낮은 동남아 쓰레기 !!!!!!

      2. JK,
Twat! Chris Stapelton is Country shit for old redneck men.
And not even good country music, try Toby Keith or

        1. you deaf old twat . I don’t even like redneck music but stapleton is just that fucking good. You geriatric boomers pissed this country away and you call newer generations shit.

        2. JK,
Never lived in the USA, can’t see how ‘I pissed it away’.
I would class Stapelton as a dreary cuck, wife left him, whine, whine.

        3. I usually disagree with John but I’m on his side about his point with music.

      3. Yo realmente no se si usted esta hablando en serio porque me parece increible que un Caballero asi inteligente puede escuchar y apreciar esta mierda reguetonera

    6. When I go to Vegas, I always know when someone is from California on the street.
Fat, covered in tattoos and piercings, lazy, nasty/rude people, poorly dressed.
California is a preview of the entire USA if we do nto close our borders and deport as many illegals aliens as we can. I guess California is a warning for the rest of the nation. A State full of fat, ugly, mixedbreed types, who are disgusting and useless. Homeless litter the State, wages are low, trash and feces everywhere on sidewalks and streets.
      Just sayin’.

    7. I saw them on Independence Day 1976 at Liberty Stadium in Memphis. It was a music festival. There were other bands too. Blue oyster Cult, ZZ Top and some others. I was 15 years old. My first time to make out with a girl, a leggy blond in daisy dukes and a halter top. Also, my first time to take LSD which had the effect of making me more confident than usual thus the make out, but not what I was expecting. I don’t recall a girl there below a solid 6…lots of weed, a solid 10 hours of excellent live music. The present is a foreign land.

    8. Isaiah 43:3 from a Christian Identity perspective.
Forget God and God forgets your children.
      Cairo here we come.

  2. Then and now
    45 year old here-
In 1977, defining a “hippie” was difficult because everyone wore their hair to their shoulders and smoked a joint on the weekends. Communes and revolutionaries were gone because the Vietnam War was over.
The druggy liberal 60’s did not end until 1983 when Reagan was a couple of years in the White House. Watch an old slasher film or FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH.
In some ways society was MORE out of control from 77-82. Watch old Brat pack films like BAD BOYS or FAST TIMES or KARATE KID. Kids RAN RAMPANT and as a result they changed the laws so that juveniles could be sentenced as adults and do 40 years in prison (Which Sean Penn and his peers of “Dorm C” would have done in BAD BOYS these days).
Lynyrd Skynrd was part of the Southern Rock coterie-Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Creedance. The odd thing is that while those bands were MORE popular in the 70’s, Skynyrd was still popular in the 80’s and 90’s.

  3. Good and intersting article Mr. Albrecht, the term you’re searching for is sampling bias: the crowd is overwhelmingly Nordic White because well the kind of music Lynyrd Skynyrd composed, and the whole (sorta) hard rock genre, are a product of the Nordic soul and sensibility.
If you move across the pond the more you travel North the higher the fans count for this type of music. Even in France or Austria, let alone the Southern fringe of the Continent, musical sensibilities are pretty faroff from American rock n roll classics.
In my native Italy the small rock scene is almost exclusively concentrated in the North and even when I was a teen, back in the early 90s, I noticed the typical local rock/metal concert attendees appeared considerably lighter and more Nordic looking than the average Italian specimen.
So I wonder if there’s anybody among the ROK commentariat who is familiar with the racial make-up of California in the 70s who can elucidate on how whiter is the crowd in the video comparing to the local populace as a whole at the time.

    1. A.J.
In 1984 California ITALIANS were considered a minority (Karate Kid). It wa
What happened was that all the Indians came North from Mexico and Central America as a result of Latin American ructions in their racial system where the poor Indians discovered Communism, which Reagan fought. The India
In the 1970’s there were Chicanos, but they were a minority.
Also, Chicano’s were “Harnizo” or “Castizo” or some were actually pure Spanish.
These were replaced by Indians with almost no European blood who considered themselves Aztec or Mayan.
I don’t know why I am so hated on this site. I don’t believe what I am writing is much worse than anyone else. Nor do I know why I am considered a “shill” for the J.

        1. R W
You are lying about being an American and male-you are a lower-class Brit female on some estate.

      1. I would say you’re dissed because you don’t stick with one name.
Choose a name and stick with it no matter what.

      2. Yes, Saturday Night Fever was also about Italians as a distinct minority, with some problems getting accepted. The late 70s films had lots of that.
70s girls were certainly beautiful. And everyone was so thin then! It was another world.

  4. What up ROK, I see that slowly but surely u are starting to pander to leftist hippie shit. What’s next, maybe an article dedicated to showing us that the BIG RED ONE was a charming lady at some point in her life?

    1. Lynyrd Skynyrd were not “hippies” but rather were, like Santana or George Clinton or later Italians with the disco movement, “enabled” by hippies as members of a downtrodden anti-establishment minority-the poor Southerner.
You could no more associate them with hippies than Clearance Clearwater Revival or Black Sabbath.

  5. With the decrease of infant mortality in the industrialized countries, the quality of gene pool has been steadily deteriorating. Which is why you find better looking women in EE and Asia. But as a whole most people of the future will be both ugly and unintelligent as the two are related.

    1. PAPA
Yes, but the lumpen-proles have always outnumbered the upper-class. Why wouldn’t they? When you are poor the best fun you can have is sex. Rich whites travel, go to expensive skiing trips, whatever.
Poor whites in their trailers and old wooden houses and shitty apartments have nothing better to do but drink, drug and screw. Their options for entertainment are less.
Because they generally are more stupid, or reckless, they will tend to have kids younger and to have more of them with more sex partners.
This is why poor whites outnumber upper-class whites, or Asians.
What will happen in America, and already did in Brazil and Latin America, is that the bottom of society will be a dim Mulatto or tri-racial (As in black, Indian and white) underclass. I say that because Mexicans are basically Indians, or at least the ones in the United States.

      1. The major factor is the infant mortality not the amount of conceptions. Since the beginning of the Industrial revolution the infant mortality rate has been reversed. Meaning more babies with mutation load survive and get the chance to reproduce themselves.

    2. It`s not given that high intelligence is an evolutionary survival advantage. In fact it`s probably not in the current environment. That`s why technology and “radical” life extension is the only way forward for whites and maybe also North-East Asians. Returning to the ways of old…not gonna happen. (Religious values etc.)

    4. Ok I get it, you hate your feminazi women, but you can’t ignore the facts!
Aside from feminism & bitchy behavior, Asian women are not “better looking” than average European females. Not even close!!! White women, from western, northern and southern Europe are way way waaayyy prettier, and their bodies are more feminine (smaller upper-body, thinner waist, larger hips) than the typical 11 or V-type body of SE Asian women. Generally, Asian women’s body structure is masculine and their body-fat is concentrated in their upper body, not in the lower body like normal females of other races. I’ve never seen a Filipino female that has a feminine / body type!!! Flat asses, fat bellies and no waist at all. And their facial features are NOT attractive at all. Small eyes with fatty eyelids & flat noses.. BUT to be fair, they act feminine and they’re too clean. They smell good! Plus Asian women shave their bodies (they’re smooth to begin with), unlike white women who have noticeably hairy arms, even celebrities & supermodels like Gidi Hadid..

  6. I’ve watched that video before and noticed the same. The one at Knebworth in England is similar. At least there are video record like this of what it was like before the invasion for whatever Europeans are left in California decades from now. Maybe it will inspire a Reconquista.

  7. I would also add that I suspect, even in the less politically charged era of peak Southern rock, the fandom of bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd not only were almost entirely white but also skewed significantly more conservative than the average hence the relatively wholesome vibes.
Now that I think about it, it would be fun running a pound per pound comparison of crowds at more degenerate events across different eras, like I dunno a New York Dolls or Ramones concert in the 70s vs the Lollapalooza crowd in the 90s vs a Juggaloo festival today.
Or George Clinton in 1974 vs 2pac in 1996 vs Drake now.

    1. A.J.
Conservatives in the seventies did not listen to rock music at all. They listened to John Denver, at most.
Lynyrd Skynrd was real shit-kicker music. Conservative in the sense of working to working middle-class white, but not in any other sense.
Also, blacks in the seventies DID listen to rock. Blacks listened to Iron Maiden. They loved Led Zeppelin.
It was not until the era of Rap starting with breakdance craze of 1983 that blacks no longer listened to mainstream music.
Gangster Rap did not come out until another Sean Penn film where he played a brutal Irish-American cop seeing a Mexican female gangbanger-Colors.
Public Enemy was the beginning, along with Ice T, of gangster rap.

      1. I remember Colors, and the heyday of the Crips vs Bloods war, very well and very fondly: I touched some of my first tits in the dark of some cavernous crumbling local movie theater watching that movie back in 1988 🙂
Poin well-taken about the lack of conservatives into rock music in the 70s, actually probably the rise of the Republican metalhead or the Republican punk is a late 80s phenomenon.
Blacks into Iron Maiden…interesting: the Di Anno era material displays a quasi punk/oi!/skinhead feel typical of the times.

      2. Relatively few blacks ever listened to mainstream rock. Maybe a few who hung out with whites did. Most blacks and at least half the cholos listened to funk and soul from the 70’s: Kool and the Gang, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Roberta Flack, Earth Wind and Fire, Funkadelic the list is endless. Older blacks from the south listened to purely black R&B artists (Smokey Robinson, The 5th Dimension, etc) . In the 80s they listened to Prince, Michael Jackson, Lionel Ritchie, Bob Marley, etc. It would be extremely rare for a group of blacks to listen to Led Zeppelin. I have lived and worked for years among large numbers of blacks from all over the country – before the current racial divide, when EVERYBODY watched Cosby Fresh Prince, Good Times, What’s Happening, and Sanford and Son, nothing like today where the races have nothing in common other than hatred.

        1. I remember meeting Wycleff Jean and hearing him say – moving from Haiti to some American hood, he was the only black guy playing guitar listening to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead, etc and was nearly outcasted for it.

      3. Ur completely full of chit.
Show me just one single Led Zepp concert footage w a negro u lying Ju

        1. R W
Well you might remember the black who was STABBED at a Rolling Stones concert that Led Zep opened.
I mean you ARE from the UK.

    2. The gap between the socially-conservative atmosphere surrounding the Motown acts, compared to the degenerate antics of mouth-breathing rappers, goes along with this theme. IIRC, Berry Gordy used to insist that his charges go through some kind of “knife-and-fork” charm school before making their public debuts.

  8. Yes, yes, yes, but don’t forget it was the spirit of those days that enabled todays madness. The sickness of leftism was widely embraced back then; only the cancerous ulcer was still under the surface and therefore not visible. Today it has broken open and I’m sure this is only the beginning and the jewisch-marxist ideology provides us with much more insane sickness.

    1. The seventies was MUCH more liberal than today. People were exhausted from Vietnam, Watergate, the Oil Crisis etc. etc.
Only in the eighties did Conservatism return to popularity and only because the economy improved after an early 80’s recession.
If you watch films from 1982-FIRST BLOOD, FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH etc.-the mood was MUCH different than only two years later.

      1. “f you watch films from 1982-FIRST BLOOD, FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH etc.-the mood was MUCH different than only two years later.”
Yes the 80s truly started in 1983, the earliest part of the decade was eerily similar to the 70s.
1997 escape from New York might be an interesting hybrid: it’s basically a 1970s urban and societal collapse fantasy but at the same time it might be one of the earliest movies showcasing rudimentary digital technology and a 1980s punkish style of fashion.

        1. A.J.
If you watch the old George Eastman film about the cannibal on the island by George D’amato then you notice the early 80’s were the tail end of the 70’s.

    1. It was my friend. I grew up there in the 70s and early 80s.
My hometown, once the home of an annual rodeo, country music, shitkickers, copenhagen and 4wd trucks with a dog in the back, is now just northern Tijuana. At least that was my impression when I went back in 2005 after a 20 year absence.
When you have no hometown, it weakens your identity.
I try explaining the whole ‘town turning into Tijuana’ to insular Americans and they just don’t get it. But they will. Good and hard.

      1. Mike, this is the solid truth. It’s no secret the liberals who seek the diversity enrichment live in gated communities, otherwise thickly insulated, nowhere near towns that have converted from sleepy majority white to third world Mexican barrios. Many California towns look, sound, and smell exactly like Mexican cities now.

        1. A disgusting bit of symbolism to support this thesis:
The municipal sewage system of Tijuana, as you might expect, often malfunctions and backs up. The untreated effluvium is discharged into American waters, and is particularly noxious just off the beach in Coronado, where Navy SEAL candidates train. So our elite naval commandos (95% of whom are white) often have to swim through raw Mexican sewage during their training evolutions. Not only is this a symbolic insult of the first degree, but it also poses a significant health hazard to the trainees, whose immune systems are already depressed by the extreme demands of BUDS.

  9. I was born in 74 and remember the 80’s/very late 70’s era well. Those concert-going young women may have been beautiful and very Caucasian, but make no mistake — most probably voted solidly (D) back then and are today’s aging professional women who are Hillary supporters & believe in all the leftist wacko ideology. The hottest conservative girls that were marriage material back then were ultra-snobbish, elusive (especially not likely to be at those concerts) and viewed you as nothing if you weren’t a regular church goer who knew how to talk the talk and keep up appearances at church, and had a meaningful college degree & you made good money (or they believed you were going to make good money eventually). It is easy to look at old footage and be nostalgic — but the reality on the ground was often radically different than what it appears in old video and photos.

  10. My older siblings, most of whom were all teens in the 1970’s, have all said that the movie “Dazed and Confused” is the most accurate portrayal of that particular time in their lives. I’ve watched that movie a number of times and it looked like a really great time to be young in America.

  11. Alas, the days when the females in the crowd had fewer tattoos than all of the band members combined.

  12. Great post. The “Stars and Bars” Confederate flag in the background…Nobody gave a shit…Do that now and it would cause riots…
    Makes me sad…

    1. Nggrs were kept in Their place then. No integration. No cultural enrichment. No stress from that. Far happier times.

    2. Don’t forget that when this concert occurred, Jimmy Carter had recently been elected. Jimmy Carter was from deep south Georgia — and Oakland California back then was every bit the liberal stronghold it is today. So in summary, the Stars and Bars Confederate Flag was a non-issue back then in Oakland when Carter was President….maybe even viewed as something positive and to be promoted by the left (for Carter’s sake).

  13. I remember when it started, with girls getting cute tats of flowers or little bunnies discretely tucked away on an ankle or inside a wrist….

  14. If I recall correctly, tatoos, piercing, dyed hair, and other unconventional looks were originally from the punk scene. Its unlikely you’d find that at a lynard skynard show.

    1. TOOTH
True. The punk movement came about as a reaction to hippies in Britain (NEVER TRUST A HIPPIE was a Sex Pistols song).
However, the tattoos and piercings of today were born of the 90’s alternative movement. Sort of a spin-off of grunge.

      1. Additionally, in the 2000s many of these alternative looks became mainstream because the fashion industry realized it’s a cash cow. I think this is why we see leftists wearing these styles in particular. I actually think most sjws are basically “grown up” (as in physically older— not maturity) emo kids of the 2000s (like that cringe band My Chemical Romance). The hipsters are basically old school emos (like the beta males of Sunny Day Real Estate).

    2. Wrong
Pamela Anderson in Barbwire started it. Then Britney Spears
Punkers a diff animal altogether. Way too fringe. Freaks.

  15. The Lynyrd Skynrd plane crashed cause it RAN OUT OF FUEL!!! The fuel gauge was broken and they didn’t check the fuel the old fashioned way with a measuring stick..
    Just ran out of gas…crashed.

  16. Talk about beta behavior, waxing nostalgic over this is NOT going to do a goddamn thing about the hell things are now. 40 years passed, feminism was rad then, now look at what that rad got us. Radioactively toxic gynocentric vagina whoreshipping society that is insane.

    1. That’s what thinking with your dicks got you from the “free love” era. No your bastard children are kicking you square in the nuts. My how “progressive” it all is….(retch)

    2. No, but it’s good to show what women can look like without ink and metal. The comparison might give even younger guys something better to aim for.

  17. Freebird sucks. It’s a horrible song. Those with shit hearing like it.
In 1960, 92% of Californians were pure whites (not mestizos). Even in 1970, 89% of Californians were pure whites. By 1980, only 66.6% of Californians were pure whites.
Sometime between 1970 and 1980, California collapsed. And the implosion continued onward. In 1990, only 57.2% of Californians were pure whites, 46.7% in 2000 and 40.1% in 2010.
Californians could not make it without 1) Federal civilization employment spending 2) Federal military spending 3) Federal welfare spending 4) productive whites

    1. JOHNNY
It would be the end of Central America too, because if Indians could not flee the caste system they would revolt against their Spanish overlords non-stop.

    2. Your stats are good but your taste in music is obviously not American.
      You have to go back.

    3. You’re a lying Ju
Freebird= one of the greatest guitar solos in rock history, period. Even great players try to learn it. It’s epic.

  18. I was 12 years old in 1977, grew up in the NYC metro area. I remember the news when Lynyrd Skynyrd’s plane crashed and my dad was shocked. This happened not too long after Elvis died as well. The bottom line is that it was still a good time for White people in America in 1977 but we were all too stoned and having too good a time to see what (((they))) were doing behind the curtain to radically change that.
Back then (at least in the NYC/NJ area) neighborhoods and towns were still somewhat segregated. Whites lived in their own neighborhoods, blacks in their own and nary did they mix. I suspect it was likewise in California in the 70’s as well. There were some Puerto Ricans too, stayed in their own places too. There were no Mexicans, Guatemalans, Hondurans, etc anywhere to be found.
If you were a white kid in 1977, you were into rock n roll. Period. You’d be picked on and beaten up if you were into anything else. Unlike today, white kids’ minds are poisoned by disgraceful rap “music” and rock is deemed for “old farts”. I could go on an on but lastly, while White folks demise had been in the works for a while by 1977, it really ramped up under Reagan and set off by Clinton. And here we are.

    1. TJ
The moral panic against cheese-metal bands in the 80’s.
      Judas Priest devil lyrics.
      Watch TRICK OR TREAT.

    2. It saddens me that so many gentile lives were sacrificed and lost in ww2 under false pretenses only to have their future generations enslaved and destroyed by the Zionist J.
      What a travesty.

    3. T.J.
      Reagan Era-
I actually think Reagan managed to clean things up a bit from the counter-culture madness of the 1967-1982.
The problems in California were partly the result of Reagan tampering with Latin America which then resulted in floods of Indians coming North into America.
Crack cocaine was localized. It was a white trash and Negro thing restricted to the ghetto. The violence was so restricted that whites Americans did not pay attention.
Blacks actually calmed down in the 80’s. The Revolutionary fervor of the 60’s and 70’s faded away.
The Clinton era revived the sleazy era of the seventies. This was because the Wall came down.

    1. Nah, they just needed some guidance from men. Instead they got their guidance from the (((tv))) and (((pop culture))) and the chaimstream media.
It all went wrong in the USA when an entire generation or 2 of men refused to say NO to all that bullshit.
Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers would not have taken that shit.
But (((something))) happened to the boomers.
      Maybe holocaustianity?

  19. On Amazon Prime there is a documentary about the US festival in SoCal circa 1983.
I was too young and poor to attend but some of my friends went.
Just looking back at that video was a real eye opener. There weren’t any fat people visible.
Yes indeed, Southern California was white at one time. After 1986 and the Reagan Amnesty it went to shit, err mexico.

    1. MIKE
Reagan needed the agri-business vote and would not have gotten it without allowing Mexicans to work illegally on farms-he was after all, pandering to capitalists.
Secondly, he backed the Right Wing governments of Central America (Spanish and Mestizo landowners) in wars against Communist guerrillas and as a result the Indians swarmed North and if they had NOT been able to swarm North then those countries might have gone Communist like Cuba.
Reagan was also fighting a massive cocaine problem in the US and was willing to concede to certain things to get the governments of Mexico and Central America to cooperate.
Cocaine is out of style now but people forget just how huge the problem was in the 1980’s.

      1. Cocaine was here because the government brought it here. Reagan was pro cocaine all the way.

  20. Hate to break the bad news but those sluts filmed wanted to fuck the band and most ended up being train wrecks without the tongue rings

  21. “I want to to welcome some very old friends of ours…..Lynyrd Skynyrd!”
Ronnie Van Zant definitely had the voice.
I just put my “One More From the Road” CD onto my various mp3 players. I did the same for Little Feat’s “Waitin for Columbus” CD as well.

  22. I grew up there, at that time. I remember it with crystal clarity. The girls were just…girls. Totally normal. Maybe one or two fatties, at most, per school. Lots of beauties. Zero anger against men…except for the normal “stop grabbing my ass” sort of thing. Girls viewed boys in a totally healthy way…by their qualities a potential husbands or boyfriends. Girls went into nursing, accounting, English, teaching, or other non-male-dominated fields and were absolutely 100% happy. They all assumed they would get married and start a family, maybe after college and a little fun, and they thought that was perfectly good.
They did not envy men. They were perfectly clear that being women had huge benefits and they were willing to let men take on the shit jobs.
    What changed?
Back then Feminism was still about “equal rights”. It had not yet morphed into men-should-be-put-in-concentration-camps insanity that is Feminism today. Religion and traditional values were still very strong. Gays weren’t harassed but they kept to themselves.
I remember it perfectly. Traditional values and progressive leftism were still in balance. Now that balance has collapsed, Feminism and Gayism has overrun the entire society and have turned vile. Young women are swamped with sick man-hate propaganda at every turn. They are as brainwashed as any nazi youth.
Amazing to me how spoiled girls are today, how infinitely coddled and indulged and empowered, and yet, they spend their entire day dreaming up new and creative ways to feel oppressed by men.
The difference is so vivid and real. Funny how few millennial and gen-x kids realize how much has changes so quickly.

  23. Those were the days! It ws my hey day! Young had money and lots of chicks! ou have no Ideal what we let slippaway.

  24. Back the in the 70s even the music was much much better.
Real musicians who could really sing and play harmonic music on their instruments.
But now modern music sucks sucks sucks..!!
I have a neighbour. He is a young, good and friendly guy.But the music he listens ( too loud) is so disqusting and sick.It is almost unbearable for me listen to it for more than 10 minutes.
This music just makes me very agressive.Next time i will knock at his door for a serious conversation.

    1. Knock knock
      Whos there?
      “Step aside little boy” &
drop a Van Halen cd in his boom box. That’ll fix him right up.

    2. Marco,
That’s because you’ve let yourself get old.
I listen to the same music as 20 year olds, and I enjoy it.
Never restrict yourself to one era, music style or language.

      1. JOHN
Music has not changed much since the 90’s in fact. It is all techno and black hip-hop.
The difference between music in 1978 and 1998 was huge. But 1998 and today. Nothing.
This is because Gen Y cannot really invent anything.

      2. Nah, it really does just suck. As a musician it hurts to see bands suck so bad. Kids can barely play their instruments now, if they play one at all (ableton doesn’t count)

      3. Yes i am aware that i am getting old.
But IMO modern music is so bad, it just cannot be called “music“ anymore. It sounds like a soulless machine out of control.

  25. I lived in LA in the early 90’s. I can tell you that the girls were still beautiful then.
Last time I went back, not so much. I was hard to tell, most were looking down at a phone.

  26. Sorry everyone, but I have to disagree. At the time of this concert, the rot of liberalism had already set in. All those beautiful young people… they raised the next generations… the teachers, the leaders, the man in the street… to welcome their own displacement. They ARE the problem, blonde hair and beauty notwithstanding. Don’t idealize them… curse them. They may have been naïve, but they voted, and took down a civilization with them. 🙁

  27. I grew up in SoCal at the beach in the 70’s and early 80’s. Lots of blonde beach bunny types (with a sprinkling of Asians and Hispanics). slim, healthy looking, mostly pleasant demeanor. Flip flops, puka shells, OP and Dolphin shorts. Great time. The average, every day girl at Torrance High in the late 70’s would be in the 10-15 percent of girls now. It was even better at CSULB in the early 80’s. I weep at what has become of the once great state of California. So glad I left 30 years ago…

    1. How?
      You mean: Who?
      The Wretched White Left.
      That’s who.
Nothing will change until they’re put to the sword.

    2. BRAM
In the 1990’s, California was still the “promised land” where aspiring actresses and models went. Today, film production is in Vancouver and everyone has heard of the horror stories about Los Angeles.
Now California is synonymous with SHITHOLE.
Plus, many whites have left. Including the celebrities, who now life in the South of France. So no tax money to maintain the infrastructure.
The white women today who might have wanted to be beach bunnies don’t want to go to California.

  28. The Annunaki began sending their own crazies to the ‘West’ ever since the 1947 Roswell landing…The difference is, today, they’re your neighbor, your roommate, your co-worker…whereas over 40 years ago, you had only a handful in the whole country (Charles Manson for example).
Just like chemtrails…You were lucky (1 in a million) if you saw one chemtrail in 1977, whereas today, they take up the entire sky and are normally sprayed 5 or 6 days out of the entire week.
The reason their (SJW’s, trendies, etc) populations have boomed is because they want to destroy ‘Western’ Civilization and want the planet to be completely under their control, and us, their worker slaves or untermensch.
You rarely see real ‘white’ women (maybe 50 and older) anymore because the ones you see today were born from next generation Annunaki DNA…mainly through an abusive, pedophile father (who is 100% Annunaki). These f$%&ers are stronger and smarter then us. They can rely on 3-4 hours a night of rest, where the average human needs 7 plus to effectively do their job.
They look like us too! Because most of us have Annunaki DNA as well! Going back over 500,000 years when they mated Homo Erectus with their own. We became more intelligent by the end of World War 2, created a thriving middle class, had clean running water, built faster cars, planes, landed man on the moon and a modern infrastructure. Whenever we (as humans) establish ourselves, become independent, and achieve our dreams, an Emperor Ming or George Soros is waiting to tear us down.
This cycle has been repeated endlessly since the ancient Sumerians. It happened in our time!

  29. RIGHT NOW…
Right now, nobody under 40 knows who Van Halen is
    RIGHT NOW…
Right now, Sammy Hagar is frigging 65 years old!
    RIGHT NOW…
Right now, nobody remembers when men use to have hair that long.

  30. How come when I type up an excellent post with near perfect grammar and spelling, it gets banned? Damn Annunaki run this site too!

  31. You guys want tears? Compare Skynard and Freebird to the “music” today.
This is way past the point of “those damn kids! The music decline parallels the decline in women. I bet they is a connection. Both demonstrate acute and extreme cultural decline.

  32. (Attention Mods: Sorry if this is a double post. I think my first one failed to launch so I am reposting.)
    Excellent article, Mr. Albrecht.
I was 17 in 1977, lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, and went to several of these “Day on the Green” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_on_the_Green) concerts at the Oakland Coliseum in the 70’s, and can find no fault with what you wrote.
Needless to say, this article is like memory lane for me and I would like to add a few observations from the time.
One of the first things to understand is that it was a much much more innocent time, and almost no one had even seen porn beyond a magazine you found in the attic, so a 17 year old back then was like a kid, really. Not everyone was having sex or feeling the pressure to, and many of us wanted to but were raised religious so held back.
That being the case, just going to a concert like this, and maybe one of your buddies produced one crumpled joint, or someone snuck a few beers, and you drove an hour or more from the suburbs to Oakland, well, you felt pretty grown-up just doing that, so, if you smiled at a girl at the concert, or stole a kiss before you left, you were completely over the moon.
No one was expected to bed tens or be alpha or any of that. At the time, it was enough, really, to be yourself, and so there was a complete absence of ‘branding’ yourself or playing to the camera or knowing your best angles, none of it, you were just living your life.
Look at all those girls as the camera passes by. No posing, no duck faces, they act like the camera doesn’t exist, there are just there with their friends to watch a show. In fact the only duck face you see is near the end, where the camera rests on the piano player for the band, you can see him checking it out, and then mugging for the camera. That’s right, only duck face, and it’s a guy.
Stopping what you were doing to make faces for a camera was weird, for the awkward guys, not normal people.
Even the band looks pretty normal. They dress just like the stoners who hung out in the parking lot of my high school, no different than anyone else except they can play an instrument. This is like the least showbizzy set you can imagine. They look relaxed and comfortable with themselves.
One thing I will disagree with is all the demographic talk. I can’t speak for the black community, and Oakland was considered predominately black even then, but there were only a couple soul stations, and most stations, radio that is, played top forty, and everyone listened to that, consequently, everyone listened to the same thing, and that included Rock, Folk, Soul, Motown, Southern Rock. Everyone listened to the same thing, which was everything.
Everyone listened to Skynyrd, and the rumor back then was that because the single for “Free Bird” was seven minutes long, the DJs favored it because it was the only song long enough to let them leave the studio, do some coke, and come back. It was played all the time on most radio stations and that was how most music was listened to, the radio, waiting with your tape recorder at hand, hoping to hear your favorite song and recording it.
Take a look at the link above for the lineups for these Day on the Green concerts, and you will see that though the artists were mostly white, there is mixing of styles on the bills, and people didn’t segregate off into subcultures so much, not in music, and not in high school.
That came later in the 80’s, the walling off of groups in high school, so in 1977, in my high school, you had jocks, stoners, drama people, whatever, but you weren’t separated off into cliques, and you all felt like you were all part of the same town, the same high school. So what you had was everyone listening to all the same music, and then going to a concert with their friends, and in a way, it didn’t even matter who was performing because in the suburbs in the 70’s in California, you didn’t have shit to do, so going to a concert was a big deal.
And when you got there, you got sunburned, and the music was so loud you had a headache, and you couldn’t see the stage, and the way the sound bounced around it sounded like shit and you didn’t care because you felt all grown up and you could say you saw Zeppelin or Fleetwood Mac the next week at school and that was cool.
I have such golden memories, but if I go back and see videos like this or look at yearbooks, the girls aren’t as cute as I remembered, and nowhere near as sophisticated about showing off their looks as girls today.
Even in that video I can see only two solid sevens maybe eights, the blond sitting on her guy’s shoulders and a Sophia Loren looking chick near the stage. Otherwise it is a sea of sevens and sixes.
So I think a large part of what makes this so evocative, even to young people watching, is the innocence, the lack of self consciousness, the carefree nature of youth as it should be in a safe prosperous country. No one at that concert knew about geopolitics or Climate Change or AIDs or Fisting, or Twerking or anything other than that it was a nice day, and someone had snagged dad’s car, and you got to go to a concert, which didn’t happen that often.
“Being yourself” today is nothing but a bullshit cliche, but back then, it was enough, and you were young, and maybe you were going to meet a girl from another high school, and you were excited, and that was more than enough.
Almost everyone who wanted a girlfriend got one, and they were happy with what they got and they went to a concert and sweated and jumped around like idiots and told everyone about it next week in school and these small pleasures and joys of being in high school were more than enough.
Wish we knew more about sun block though.

  33. In fall 1977, I was a freshman at Jacksonville (Ala.) State University, and working at the student radio station when the news broke of Skynyrd’s crash.
Let me say this about why those girls look so wholesome from a 2018 perspective:
    REPRESSION.
In 1977, you didn’t have to worry that a girl was a feminist who would report you for “harassment,” but you did have to worry that she was a Christian who considered premarital sex a sin. Even if she said “yes,” she felt guilty about it. Something else you had to worry about when meeting a girl in 1977: The possibility that she had a boyfriend who would kick your ass. Practically every good-looking girl was in a more-or-less serious relationship. Most women didn’t just heedlessly “ride the carousel” back then. They were raised with moral values and religious faith and, even if they yielded to the temptations of the flesh, they at least wanted love in the exchange.
Most of your current generation of youth have been raised on atheism and porn, in households with no religion, no morals and, usually, no father. And so, yes, they’re mentally disturbed and look like carnival sideshow freaks.
Not my kids, though. My children were raised Christian. They know how to say “yes, sir” and “no, ma’am.” Yes, the twin boys got a little wild as teenagers, but they settled down — one’s an Army staff sergeant and the other’s a home remodeling contractor. Their older sister married a lawyer. We’ve got 4 grandchildren so far, and the youngest three — now ages 19, 17 and 15 — haven’t even got started.
Oh, and my kids know them some Skynyrd.

  34. I don’t see the logic in public displaying statues of people who have committed acts of racism. If they have historical significance, leave them in a textbook.
    My thoughts.

  35. the babyboomer, the slippery slope
watch your self closely, gen-x, gen-y, it could be your turn in the future when gen-abcd will point their fingers on you as the source of all degenerates they have later

  36. @Marco
There is a very interesting video by thoughty2 on YT explaining why modern music is so bad.

  37. 55 and I was there ( sportatorium, Hollywood Fl to be exact)
Most of y’all are 180 degrees off from the reality of that time. We were NORMAL PEOPLE living NORMAL AMERICAN lives. No one gave a fuck about carter, Reagan or amnesty. We were simply FREE people in a FREE society enjoying a surveillance-free summer day. It was fun, sorry you missed out. Don’t overcomplicate it.

  38. This is what I see now in Poland – a generation of young ladies taken care by their mothers (still conservative) but lazy and ‘I want to do all I like to’ … we are just 40 years in your past, gaining degeneracy with each Westerner visit.
If I could I would again close border and whip to bone every degenerate who tries to visit.

  39. This is my era and “my people”. I almost wept while watching. My son is 14 and a really fantastic kid. I’m so concerned for his future and “people” he’ll have.

  40. You can be sure all those beautiful women had a full muff of pubic hair. Only whores and movie stars got the Brazilian in those days.

  41. The reason for this is pretty obvious: the insanity of today did not happen overnight.
It was a gradual process, slowly infecting different areas of life, in a way most insidious.
Here’s the terrifying part: if things continue like this many here will long for the good old days of the 2010s.
If I went back in time and started telling people what the future held I would’ve been considered a truly insane kid.

  42. I was at that concert , what a great day. I went with my girlfriend who I am still married to.

  43. Stuff White people like always has a better crowd. Here, this is over at Terminal 5, a club that had been turned into a music venue, on the west side in Hell’s Kitchen (Clinton).

US cities are generally non white but look at the audience here. Same thing when they have classic music in the park or Shakespeare.
And I’m not so sure that white females changed as much as you believe. Most of that freak stuff is just constantly fed to you in the Media until you start believing that all females are like that.

  44. Ronald Reagan was a LIBERAL governor of California.
    1. TAXES: He promised that he would not approve an income withholding tax and that he was “set in concrete” about this. After this lie, he joked “The sound you hear is the concrete cracking around my feet”
    2. GUN CONTROL: Reagan signed the 1967 Mulford Act which prohibitied gun owners from carrying loaded guns. What good is a gun without ammo Ronnie?
    3. ABORTION: In 1967, Reagan signed the Therapeutic Abortion Law. Abortions in California went from 800 the previous year to over 100,000.
Turn off the Fox News and Limbaugh and open your eyes.

  45. there’s some 80’s beach boys videos in washington, dc that are a little like that! all of them usually in 4th of july. there’s also live aid, even with the sh!tlib theme, looking at the audience is great.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt2tvNzt1CU there are videos in other years too, it was a thing back then

  46. Reagan was a LIBERAL governor of California.
    1. TAXES – signed payroll income tax into law after promising not to
    2. GUN CONTROL – signed the Mulford Act which banned Californians from carrying a loaded gun (What good is an unloaded gun Ronnie?)
