A girl’s profession or job can say a lot about her. When you are casting about for dating prospects, we men need to be just as ruthless and mercenary as girls are. In this scary modern era of women getting high salaries for occupying useless paper-pushing jobs where they can torment people, it is refreshing to learn that there are occupations that can actually help us as men. Remember: the only person who cares about you is you. From my experience, girls who are nurses offer significant advantages for short or long term relationships. Let me count out five reasons…
1. Nurses have money
The health care and nursing professions are in significant demand these days and this demand is expected to grow in the years ahead. Even nurses who are just out of school can command significant incomes, and this is a good thing for men. Why? Because it’s better to be with a girl who has money than with one who is broke. She can buy you things. Never turn down money or gifts from a girl. She can go dutch with you frequently when you go out, and generally feel better about her sense of security and well-being. Trust me on this: being around broke chicks is no fun. Nobody wants to be around a flatliner.
2. The sex is better
Nurses are comfortable with human anatomy. Nurses have seen it all. They are around naked bodies all day and are fascinated by them. A healthy interest in human anatomy is a precondition for good sexual performance. This translates into better sex for you. She’ll know just how to stroke your prostate in that special way. She’ll also tell you exactly which part of her genitalia is most receptive to stimulation. You won’t get any squeamishness, whining, or half-stepping when you ask her to do new and unusual sex acts with you in bed.
3. Nurses work long hours
How is this an advantage for you? By working a real schedule, nurses have little energy to spend in destructive female pursuits like gossiping, scheming, or conniving. Idleness is the root of much evil when it comes to girls. They will want to be intimate and relaxed in their off-time, not spend it causing trouble, or trying to keep up with the Joneses. Another benefit of her working long hours is that you can get some time to yourself. It is clear to any guy who has been in short term or long term relationships that each person needs time to himself or herself. Too much contact can lower attraction, and it is a good thing to have time for yourself. Your woman should never be the master of your time.
4. Nurses have a brain
It takes some mental ability to pass all those nursing courses and the examinations necessary to become a nurse. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stomach a girl who is an idiot. I just can’t. And there are many of them out there. If a girl is already a nurse, you know that she at least has some level of mental acuity. She’s also displayed a certain level of discipline and dedication in tolerating the long hours, the arrogance of doctors, and the touch of hazing that goes with the medical profession. This translates into a specimen of womanhood who is not spoiled.
5. You get free medical advice
Getting free stuff is always great. Never turn down free things from the girl you’re dating. Fall off your bike? Jam your finger in that pickup game with your friends? Don’t know how to treat those flu symptoms? Just ask her. She’ll tell you. Being around doctors, patients, and other nurses has exposed her to a huge range of diseases, afflictions, ailments, and accidents. In these days of pricey health care and dwindling access to good treatment, a man has to take advantage of the opportunities presented to him. And this means picking your nurse girlfriend’s brain for every scrap of information on the ailment of your choice. Getting plugged in with a nurse has its advantages for your health, in more ways than one.
All in all, nurses have much to recommend themselves for. So, the next time you see a decent looking girl in scrubs on the bus or on the metro, make an effort to strike up a conversation. Don’t be intimidated by the possible vague scent of iodine, or the stressed-out demeanor that you may see. Your choice of openers is huge, as you can pretty much ask her anything related to the field of medicine, and are bound to be able to get a decent conversation going. So get in there, have fun, and good luck. As always, we here at ROK welcome your stories and feedback.

Amen. These women are rockstars among musical theater wannabes. Their capacity for honesty, pragmatism, and patience, along with generally higher levels of intelligence make them outstanding partners.
And with all the stress and hard work their jobs create, they are appreciative and responsive to a man who knows how to bring color and excitement to their lives. They recognize the contrast between the stress of work and the release of play.
True. Especially those working in hospitals. They see death often so they appreciate the joys of life more.
They see so much death, they try to dull the pain with dick. Provide a nurse a dick to lean on, and you will have a true friend for life (or for two minutes, YMMV).
How about nursing students?
Same rules apply. They may have more debt, but so what? Ask them to give you free stuff and buy things for you anyway.
Extra credit tip: A lot of Filipinas come to the US to train as nurses. They have many good feminine qualities and traits, and you should make them a focus of your efforts if possible.
It seems like a good demographic for me. I’m sort of at that age (mid 20’s) where I’m old enough to command respect among students but not yet old enough to do the same for working professionals with a few years of experience. Focusing on students is therefore more ideal.
Haven’t really been very attracted to Filipinas before, but a friend of my father’s has dated a lot of them and he says pretty much the same thing.
We’ll see what happens when that time comes I guess.
I’ve dated two and they were excellent. But they were also both foreign and this has something to do with it. Many foreign students take up nursing because it is a career for feminine women that actually pays well. They can take care of people and be paid for it.
I got engaged to a German nursing student a few years ago. I have major health problems and foolishly thought it might work out well. Unfortunately she turned out to have the emotional development of a 3 year-old. Also she was quite violent, sadistic, a psychotic tyrant with the bedside manner of Nurse Ratched. She hated being told what to do by her superiors, and had frequent temper tantrums. I think her initial attraction to me is akin how a child is attracted to caring for a sickly animal. Once they realize caring requires hard work, long term commitment, self sacrifice, they lose interest and the animal dies or is simply discarded and left to fend for itself, especially if it’s male. And don’t forget ALL women are hypergamous. If you’re a poor, ill man such as myself, unable to financially provide for her needs, a Nurse (& almost any woman for that matter) will be off in the sack with the first alpha paramedic, cop, doctor, anesthesiologist, or perhaps even lesbian nurse she can find. Which is exactly what she did, only with a male nursing student, because that’s the best she could do. Point is, anyone she views as her equal or superior, socially and financially, is what she’ll set her sights on before long. Doesn’t matter if you can provide for yourself, or you’re not a burden, and you help her out in many other ways, and are a deeply caring loving mate, a super swell guy, striving toward his goals and dreams despite his limitations, bla bla… That might make for good Hollywood romance/drama/fiction, but it ain’t reality. All that will matter in the end is you don’t provide MORE for her than she does for you. And you’re sickly, which = less than a man in (almost) every woman’s eyes. But don’t feel sad for me, because I saw all this coming the day we met. I knew she’d betray me eventually. I was in it more for the pussy than LTR or caregiver crap, and despite our engagement, I never stopped looking for a better quality mate. With a hotter tighter ass. Hah!
Are they anorexic?
You would be very hard pressed to find a nurse with an eating disorder.
I do work with a very fit one that takes Adderall though.
Medical student here – I fully endorse all of this. I go after nurses/nursing students as much as possible. An added bonus for me is that there’s no desire to compete with me professionally, and they generally always see me as an alpha authority figure. Female med students/doctors? Run as fast as you can in the other direction.
if you look like this how are you going to get laid with a nurse, mate?

Knew a guy just like this in college who was always with a 7+. I really liked him. He was a total dick when in the company of women he wanted to bone. Girls loved it. Otherwise a total gent. Red pill before there was a term.
We were on a debate team filled with feminists. As soon as they were within earshot he went rabid. When not he was meek as a lamb.
Looks like a typical PUA :o)
Dude from the GEICO commercials? He has notoriety.
+1 on staying as far away from women medical school students or doctors. They are usually loaded with debt and cannot handle the stress of the education, training, and actual medical practice. Most will end up as part time general practice physicians because they just can’t hack it. Although female doctors are generally in shape and on the more attractive side don’t fall for it. On the inside most are bitter, financially they are broke, and all you will hear is medical stories and her whining about how hard it is to be a doctor. Plus women doctors act with a certain smugness and arrogance that is hard to tolerate. My worst dates and relationships were with doctors.
Stick to nurses and physician’s assistants. They tend to be kind, compassionate, and more even keeled with the emotions.
You’re a student how can they think of you as alpha? lol When I was a resident the nurses treated me like crap and they knew I was from a wealthy background too. Ok perhaps not all but a lot of the older ones seemed to resent me. It’s probably because nurses (and a lot of doctors too) are from lower class backgrounds.
Female doctors are generally better than the average female but that’s not saying much.
Reason 6. Free enema sex
I agree with all of these except number 2. Even so, I’ve gotta say I would never, ever, ever date a nurse. Nurses, like teachers (primarily of young kids but all to some degree), have ridiculously high levels of narcissism.
In my experience, this is false. I have dated one nurse and two nursing students and they were very humble.
Spend some time in a hospital. Even other nurses will tell you how bad nurses are. I’ve also met 2 nurses that break the mold – a maternity nurse and a cardiac technician. Still majority are rotten apples – even if they put on a good show early in the relationship.
Interesting. Maybe I have just been lucky as well. I have noticed a lot of fat nurses too and there are definitely some bad apples as well.
I dated a few nurses and they were all BAT SHIT CRAZY!!! And, as other have said, smart when it comes to nursing and dumb in everything else. The same goes with the several teachers I dated. Maybe I just have bad luck. Maybe not.
I’m a male nurse and this is all true. That said, being a male nurse is also a fantastic career for those not wanting to take the plunge into med school, but we all know that working with women is extremely dangerous. Especially nurses. Nurses tend to eat their own. That said, nursing is still an awesome field and has many advantages for men, and I’m pretty sure they get their aggression out at work. Its a very frustrating job if you don’t have a certain mindset. At home many of these women very much fit the profile listed here. Except fat nurses, but we’re not talking about them lol
I’m thinking about becoming a nurse…sick of the warehouse laborer jobs. Out of curiosity, how feminist is nursing ? How do I be safe as a man in the work environment from women and their bitchiness ? Are nurses actually good looking on the whole or not really ?
I’m actually dating a nurse… I click the huge “Share on Facebook” button up there. She shares it with her 1,000 FB friends (mostly girls).. They then find the “Anorexic” article… Get mad, share that, twitter it, tons of clicks, rinse, repeat..
Come on ROK, can we stick with the intelligent articles rather than the click baiting?
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
People come for the easy-to-digest lists… they stay for the life-changing masculine philosophy.
I do find the masculine philosophy extremely informative and intriguing.
to say that nurses don’t gossip, uhhh, wrong
I think he just means that they do it less than the standard.
I think they just get most of that and their other behavior out of their system at work. Speaking from my own professional experience.
You’re dating a nurse, WINNING!!!
I’d also give similar, albeit lesser credit to women who are elementary school teachers.
But I went with a nurse for all these reasons and more. The biggest of which isn’t mentioned: with a nurse, you can tell immediately if they’re going to be self-absorbed or nurturing and feminine. Simply ask, and follow up as necessary, with asking what is great about her career – the money, or the job? If it’s the money, she’s a shitty nurse and you won’t want to be around her. If she legitimately likes taking care of people, she’ll put you at the top of the list.
Money vs. job may depend upon how long she’s been a nurse. Genuine job interest may turn into paycheck chasing after enough years of ER burnout. My own experience of nurses: some are caring and motivated, and some are callous and disinterested.
Agreed, but you really don’t see any happy mediums, do you? That was kind of my point. You don’t need to waste a lot of time figuring out if she’s a bitch.
Nope, not many happy mediums. How did it turn out with your nurse?
Many nurses are also practical and will not be gold-diggers. This is because most are not blessed with endless dollars from Daddy and actually have to carefully choose an educational path that is cheap and will pay off in the long run. Nursing fits the bill.
From what I have observed being back in the States, it is getting hard to find a halfway decent female that doesn’t have worms in her head, so I think Quintus has a good point that there is some kind of correlation between a woman’s profession and the mental outlook she has. One should also factor in that not only is a nurse is not squeemish around the human physiology, but as well nurses do have to deal with terminally ill patients and people afflicted with life long crippling diseases. This makes the reality of life ever present to her which puts many things in perspective and thus is a mittigating factor in keeping her “real” so to speak.
Admittedly though I have never seen a nurse in the states that looked like a swimsuit model.
Ah, yes, brother.
But one must make compromises in life.
People who have to deal with reality tend to have better outlooks on life than ones who play foolish social games all the time. I’ve noticed that about the cowboys and their womenfolk in rural Arizona. They don’t seem too complicated mentally, but they have practical skills for dealing with the natural world, and they seem pretty satisfied with their lives.
I am a nurse, and a swimsuit MODEL!.
Also, physical therapists, for the exact same reasons. One other reason: these girls tend to be sweet and compassionate, which is why many of them are drawn to the job.
I’ve found problems with nurses. Sometimes they can get into the self pity, “I work too much; I’m so busy.” thing.
The other thing, a lot of them do two years of school and are doctor hunting.
And the resources invested into nurses’ education and training pay real returns. You can’t say that about the resources wasted on the women who graduate from college with useless liberal arts or social science degrees who often wind up working in HR after they discover that they can’t get jobs working at fashion magazines.
Also nurses are stuck in professional girl land. It’s the opposite of the sausage fest effect of the IT industry!
Ill-informed. 5 reasons NOT to date a nurse:
1. They are full of themselves
Nurses have massive numbers in the healthcare world and thus a very robust political structure. It used to be nurses did as they were told, but now in most hospitals you can hardly give an order without having to go through 18 different check boxes and 12 signatures, rather than a simple “do this please”. The nursing culture in most high level hospitals is militant, and VERY feminist. Because of this political power, they have no qualms about bitching out a physician or PA (aka disrespecting authority) and refusing an order. Nurses are also prolific tattle-tales.
2. Nurses are not as smart as you made them out to be. Some, absolutely. Critical Care nurses and surgery nurses are usually very knowledgeable…but others…mind boggling how they even got through school. Nurses are not trained medical PROVIDERS, hence they give inconsistent and often egregious medical advice. You are better off asking someone who actually went to medical school.
3. They do work long—and erratic—hours. Like weekends and graveyards.
4. They do seem to like sex, which means they like sex with lots of different dudes. Better sex? I say grosser sex.
5. Nurses on average make a decent living but probably not as much as you think. Middle class.

^^THIS^^ x10
I had a streak of nurses over the summer, one which I banged like a teenager; what a freak she was.
I confirm these observations on field data, not theory. Remember, many these girls are around rich doctors all day long and have had more than their fair share of access to cock and sperm. Despite their medical training, I find that I know more about their bodies than they do. In fact my super-freak nurse didn’t even know how to find her g-spot or knew about squirting until I enlightened her. I found she had depth of knowledge surrounding the narrow scope of her particular job, but not medicine in general. Nurses carry out procedures rather than fully understand how or why things are done a certain way.
You’re right about the “grosser” sex. They love anal for some reason, and want it rough.
Again, you’re right about the money. My nurse Freaky is a senior nurse at the top of her pay grade and isn’t making over 40k a year. She’d have to jump to management to make more, which would cramp her “lifestyle”.
Maybe they dont teach about g spot and squirting in nurse classes.
they would if i was the doctor…
Lol.
Dr Wolfson…paging Dr Ray Wolfson…
Glad you can corroborate. Nurses are trained to follow protocol, NOT think critically and make decisions that are multi-factorial in nature. And on a professional level, man they have really become cunts. There are some nice laid back girls who just wanna do their jobs and go home, but for every one of them there is a young hottie with a ‘tude and an old shrew who will break a doctor’s balls and be a policy-nazi at every turn.
Jaqen isn’t entirely wrong. I am a male nurse and my experience has been there are all kinds. A lot of it varies by specialty and shift. Night shift is a LOT more laid back. I’ve seen a lot of really really dumb nurses. Usually they are…. a bit more tan than the other nurses.
Think the problem is if you find women going to become nurses lets say in the NY area that are only doing it for the pay rates. Somewhere in the range of 74k starting. So if you had someone genuinely doing it to help people in need or sick, but you will most likely just find women doing it for the money. Sorry, I’m sure there are plenty that want to help, but most are just doing it because they see dollar signs or they have this pipe-dream they will score a high-paid surgeon that works on one of their floors with their claws.
Couple of the girls I knew that were in nursing school were only focusing on the pay grade, and they fact they will be working with high-paid doctors and surgeons. Sounds more like a bunch of greedy bitches to me, but hey, maybe I am wrong.
Wow nurses get so much money in the US? In the UK we start at half that even in London with high cost of living allowance. A lot of nurses bully and are experts at detecting weakness in others. I used to be very shy avoiding any confrontation blushing easy but ten years down the line I’m now hard as nails is it an attractive quality? No I don’t think so and I won’t be advising my daughter to enter the nursing profession any time soon.
Also most adverts for nursing jobs rarely mention the word caring it’s all dynamic and ambitious. To me caring is the most important quality for a nurse. The nurses that qualify today are a sorry lot very aggressive and I wouldn’t want them to nurse any relative of mine. Of course there are exceptions.
The really dumb ones are a “a bit more tan”? If you want to say some racist shit, don’t be a pussy about it.
No, it’s a legitimate thing among white women. I’ve seen it too. White girls tanned to a shade of orange = generally dumb nurses.
the gspot isn’t real. It was made up by cosmo and other women’s magazines
There is good and bad in any walk of life; I think based my own experience with nurses that there is firstly a MUCH greater pool of quality women with which to develop something meaningful, but secondly that those in the field who are NOT women of femininity and integrity are absolutely terrible but spotted a mile away.
Which is a lot better than looking for a woman in the corporate world, where they are almost universally worthless in anything romantic.
Knew of one nurse who had a thing for police officers, and pretty much slept with an entire NYPD precinct.
I’m married to an ER nurse.
1. They are full of themselves, mainly because they are around lots of other women (patients & co-workers) who aren’t as high status as themselves.
2. Being able to recall large volumes of information at certain triggers doesn’t make them smart. A dog will roll over if you train it. They tend to be “less-dumb” because they didn’t go five years for a bachelor’s in basket weaving.
3. & 4. Long hours spent in the company of firefighters, policemen, doctors, ex-military, paramedics & criminals. Unless you’re one of those or a combination, you’ll be getting sloppy seconds sooner or later.
5. Big city? Money. Anywhere else? Slave wages.
Great points. All true in my experience. I agree on shift personality differences too. When I used to round on weekends, staff was so much more laid back. Also all the male nurses I’ve worked with were really cool dudes. Made my job easier…very symbiotic relationship.
Nurses do seem to stay out of trouble more with their long hours. They also aren’t as lazy as your typical American girl, as the nursing major actually has right and wrong answers.
Aside from that they aren’t much different from other girls. Besides having an inflated sense of self-importance.
Have you ever heard about a divorce? Or ritalin?
when I was a teenager in the 90’s i knew more junkies than I can now remember, almost all the women ones were nurses or in nursing school.
I gotta also point out, having worked in a hospital, that the long hours do nothing to prevent gossiping, scheming, conniving, or those other typical female bullshit behavior. They just simply get all their gossiping, scheming, conniving, and assorted cuntery done during working hours.
The main reason that you might not want to date one of is that our hours are crazy and vary constantly. Other than that, I have a feeling you would like it.
I have been dating a nurse for over a year and agree with everything except #4 They have a Brain part.
Correction : They Think They Have A Brain
Sure they can rattle on about IV bags, catheters, and medical stuff, but that does not seem to translate into an overall thirst for knowledge. My nurse reads crappy 50 shades of grey novels, listens to pop music garbage, and watches lame TV movies. Outside of work, she has no interest in learning–all she wants is to be entertained by the mass media.
She has no knowledge of deeper things like history, real culture, classical music, philosophy, current events etc. Her only real knowledge is nurse stuff. Outside of this specialty, she is just as clueless as most american girls.
That being said–the money thing is great. We can both travel around the world and she pays for her share. Most girls her age (26) don’t have the money for traveling so this is a big plus.
The real negative is having to hear her bitch and moan about how her week was–blah blah blah difficult patients, mean doctors, coworker issues, incompetent managers, etc . Never ask a nurse this question and you will be fine.
I have also noticed that because they work long hours they have a hard time getting boyfriends. The ones they usually get are lowlife losers who try to milk them for money—and they succeed. So nurses are usually surrounded by beta men.
I agree both with certain aspects of the original article, and with this comment.
Nurses are basically, to steal a phrase from a friend, union thugs. I doubt they are on average any smarter than a girl with a 4-year degree in sociology or some other fluffy discipline. More practical, perhaps, since they invested their time in a discipline that would guarantee them a steady income (and access to high-value males).
I also have a working theory that nurses age more harshly than other girls. After working 12 or 16 hours at a time and often overnight (which throws off circadian rhythms, hormone cycles, etc.) they rarely have any motivation left to go to the gym or eat properly. They also spend their days in dumpy clothing that easily hides a poor figure, giving them less of an incentive to maintain their physique.
As Flavius points out, nurses often take “down time” to a new level on their off days, basically communing with the gods of Netflix and Hulu to get their Kardashian fix. Very little in the way of intellectual curiosity.
Finally, I am tired of hearing nurses riding a high horse about “saving lives” for a living. Even the ones that take temperatures and blood pressures all day will spew this inane B.S.
To Quintus’s credit, I agree completely that they are less likely to cause trouble in their off time, and it’s actually nice to date a girl who can kick in a couple bucks for dinner once in a while.
At least in nursing you’re learning a science, as rudimentary as it is. Science/maths will always trump “history, real culture, philosophy, current event” and other humanities/political garbage that too many girls major in. Though, I do enjoy classical music.
My nurse can’t even calculate a 15% tip or do simple fractions to save her life. Her excuse–she has always been bad at math. How the hell she got through nursing school is beyond me.
My point is that their degree in nursing does not translate into intelligence or a well rounded education. The were “smart enough” to realize the monetary benefit of getting a degree in nursing–kind of like smart goldiggers picking the right gullible chump to loot.
Lets not forget. The average nurse does menial tasks most of the day. They spend a lot of time cleaning up bodily fluids of sick and dying patients, taking blood, paperwork, and most importantly following doctors’ orders. DON’T EVER TAKE MEDICAL ADVICE FROM A NURSE even though they freely dispense it like they are an authority on the subject.
Oh and by the way–doctors do not marry nurses (reference my father, grandfather were both physicians). The only doctors I know either marry other doctors or go for the pretty stupid young girl to raise a family.
Nurses however are excellent pump and dump material for med school students. Nurse supports med student through school and his residency–after he finally gets his first job (usually 29-30) he ditches the loyal and faithful nurse for a hot piece of ass. Classic cliche, but so true.
lol, yeah ok. Science/maths creates mechanistic thinkers that have problems communicating with others. Most of the science ‘experts’ i know have pathetic social skills and even less insight into society and human nature. They are likely to become Randroids too, because they have no understanding of philosophy and human behaviour.
Science is great if you want to be a researcher, but that’s about it.
You left out some important stuff. My mother is a doctor so I know what I’m talking about.
6. They take care of their man like they would a patient. Nurses have this thing I call a “nurturing instinct”. They are trained to be nice, gentle and caring.
yeah nice gentle and caring as they jam that enema tube up your ass….. nurses are hard cases, they’ve seen it all…
Have noticed that nurses can be very sadistic. If you are into BDSM then nurses are a great choice. Maybe after all the caring and kindness they have to put out every day they feel an innate desire to hurt and torture people and things in the free time.
Once I stayed too long after visiting hours and my brother’s nurse chased me out of the room with a scowl and an enema bag extended toward me. Yeah, she did.
The above might well be true, but then the argument holds in the opposite direction, too. If a female nurse is such a wonderful human being – serious, pragmatic, compassionate and a mistress of male anatomy – you think she would want to date the typical “masculine” specimen on this blog? Self-centred, narcissistic, deluded and with little identity of their own beyond what they can scrape off Masculinity Gospels like this site. Incapable to give a tiny fraction of that devotion for the weak and the ill that she will have chosen to inform her profession.
Nurses may well be ideal dating material. But most of you are not. You should stick to those within your league: the empty head bar sluts you have elected as the prime motive of your relational life.
Another bloated chyck In the house. Go find a bucket of Haagen Daz to crawl into, fattie.
Ooh a troll. I’ll play sweetie: more than a few nurses loved this ‘self-centered, narcissistic, and deluded’ specimen of masculinity. They loved it even when I ‘took them’ in ways they weren’t expecting, or even wanted. Guess the cock they had on speed dial though sugar? Mine.
you left out small dick and momma’s basement….
Honey, this article is NOT about whether or not nurses would date the guys on this blog; it’s about nurses as potential dating material.
Nurses, teachers, etc. See the pattern? They are traditional female jobs. Perhaps it’s more likely to find a traditional (i.e. non-feminist) woman in a traditional female job than engaging in you-go-girl-ist attempts at working in traditional male jobs. Women who work in traditional female jobs are also better looking, on average.
You mean the same people who inculcate young girls with feminism?
Only a foolish society allows its boys to educated by silly women who majored in education.
“3. Nurses work long hours” can also backfire. They might end up hooking up with some doctor during these boring night shifts.
Being around sick and dying people all day makes you wanna fuck with reckless abandon.
Nursing requires emotional intelligence, which is a skill most young women now lack. That’s a plus, a con would be random diseases and bacteria that they come into contact while working (depending entirely on what type of nurse she is). There’s varying levels of intensity that comes with the job, an ICU/NICU nurse at a county hospital will much more hard-boiled than one who just handles pediatrics.
Beyond basic stuff I wouldn’t rely on a nurse for medical advice but instead leverage her connections to get advice from specialists. She likely also has a much better idea of how good or bad a doctor is than other doctors and can recommend a good one to you – most doctors give referrals are given simply by picking people out of a hat.
Funny you should say this, I have always found myself attracted to ladies in the medical field, and they were always pretty rad.
Although if they work 3rd shift and you don’t no bueno.
Where I live, basically every woman in school is studying to be a nurse. Oprah or one of those other useless twats must’ve said something once about how it’s a good career (which it is) so they all jumped on the nursing train. That herd mentality at work.
NANALT.
Great article. We have to give credit to the classic ’90s cartoon “Animaniacs” for calling this back in ’93. I remember seeing this and laughing hysterically:
“She’ll know just how to stroke your prostate in that special way.”
+1 This and the enema sex.
Enema sex?
You fill your rectum with an enema and see if you can finish your load before your sphincter gives way.
deciding whether would or would not do…
ok enough internet today
Even nurses who are just out of school can command significant incomes, and this is a good thing for men
Nursing (and being a physicians assistant) is actually now a much better outcome with much lower risks, especially in ones 20s and 30s, than being a doctor.
Very few people who haven’t gone to med school, or closely observed someone who has gone to med school, realize this.
The irony being that tort reform states haven’t even made a dent in that. We’ve inflated the cost of med school horribly.
I generally agree with this, as I’ve known some nurses who are awesome chicks.
But on the downside, a lot of nurses are around rich alpha doctor dudes all day, so wouldn’t they be more likely to cheat?
Not all nurses though because, like any profession, there’s a distribution.
First off, let’s eliminate any but the ‘Registered’ nurses. Guys if she’s not an RN she’s got few, if any of the traits above. Next off, nurses have just as much squeamishness (sexually) as the next woman. Anatomy does not make a woman a sexual dynamo. This is hard learned from personal experience and asking a gal to perform oral sex, and getting an awful response
Nurses also don’t always have money, just like doctors there are specialties that get paid better than others.
Long hours is a bonus, and a negative. You want a nurse for a wife, a mother? Get her before she starts that nursing career or pick a (lower paid) specialty. Much lower paid, and it doesn’t exempt her from overtime even then… Of course if you want game, the nurses I dated were sexually desirable (there are fat nurses) and quite often ready to bang like the fucking energizer bunny.
Take the medical advice with a grain of salt, noting her speciality, she’s not a doctor. They can be excellent resources to tap for finding information! My brother wasn’t sure if a kid was really his, so I tapped a nurse (I had formerly been ‘tapping’) and asked her who was good at DNA testing. She gave me the best name at the time for him.
Quintus, i can see the point you’re trying to make. There are absolutely pro’s to dating a nurse. Generally they are more serious then the average woman, but some points i don’t agree with. I have a few nurses in my family, and this is what i noticed:
1. Money, indeed nurses make decent money
2. Better sex, wouldn’t know
3. Long hours. This to me is a negative. The stress that goes with these kind of jobs takes it’s toll, mentally and especially physically. Most of them look messed up before hitting thirty. Around forty they’re literally burned up. Stress ages women like a m*therf*cker.
4. While nurses may be more intelligent then the average female I would hardly call them smart. They know their work related stuff well but i wouldn’t say they’re intelligent.
5. Spot on.
Never marry a female nurse or doctor. Nurses and doctors have access to a variety of poisons, and know how to use them.
Shit – don’t even have one as your g/f. Some women will poison men over trivial shit and jealousy. How much risk do you want to take?
You gave this guy some downvotes but I’ve personally known of a couple of cases where this has happened. And I’m sure that if I searched around I’d find a lot more. It’s almost always the female doing the poisoning over some jealousy whether real or imagined, or just not getting what she wants, like marriage or an exclusive relationship.
Dated a few people who are nurses their parents groom them to get knocked up by doctors and live on the gravy train. Date nurses at your own peril.
I am an LPN, going to school to become an RN. I am a student, so that means that I am broke as hell. Most women I know are not looking for a rich man, but a generous one. So the next time you come across a nursing student, offer to buy her a sandwich and a cup of coffee. Your small investment will pay back in large dividends in the very near future. 🙂
So you’re a college student trying to get a B.S. in nursing. You’re broke so why would any doctor, or even any man want you? I’d rather buy a homeless person a sandwich.
Because one day I might be advocating for you, or I may participate in saving your life, or the life of one of your dearest friends or family members. Nursing STUDENTS may not have a lot of money, but with the little extra time they have, they join clubs and volunteer to make a difference in the lives of others. THAT, my friend, is the spirit of nursing. One of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs include basic psychological ones (food, water, etc.). This should be something that EVERYONE should have regardless if they are a poor student or a homeless person. And I am not asking for jewelry or designer clothing here. I am simply suggesting that if you come across a nursing student that you’re interested in, purchasing a sandwich and coffee for her speaks VOLUMES of a your character. It shows GENEROSITY (because like I said earlier, most women I know are not looking for a rich man, just a generous one). And yes, absolutely, you should also purchase sandwiches for homeless people. Our nursing club is highly involved with the local food bank. We place the needs of others constantly before our own. Remember that the next time you come across that cute nursing student. And like I said earlier, your generosity will pay back in high dividends in the future (when she finally gets that job and starts making that money). Things might be rough now, but I’m not going to remember the man with the snide remarks. I am going to remember the generous one, the one that stuck by my side when I was going through the program.
Dude, most of the nurses around where in live(in the dc region) are fat, ugly hispanic women. Not to mention they are all the biggest sluts and definitely not wife material. This is not a racial remark at all, I’m just stating facts. The girls in the medical field in lower positions(nurses, assistants, receptionists) are all hispanic and they just are not a very smart race. They need help with everything. My puerto rican nurse at the doctor couldn’t even draw my blood without getting help from a physician. What a waste of space and money.
…sure you don’t mean Phillipino?
I’ve always wanted to date a nurse.
I’m a doctor and nurses are ugly, poor, uneducated and usually old and fat.
Also in majority of cases they are from Nigeria or some Asian shit hole.
No thank you.
I’ve always wanted me a nurse.
To the author of this text: You my friend are almost completely WRONG!
NURSES are by far Narcissistic Feminist Cunts who will eat you alive!
Thank you for your opinion. It means the world to me.
Watch out for the crazy ones though! Not many women who are better prepared to kill someone. All comfortable with blood and cutting and masters of telling if someone is asleep.
I AM NOT PARANOID! I HEARD YOU THINK THAT!
I WAAAAAAY agree with Jaqen (below). There are far more reasons NOT to date a nurse. Starting with number one: My mother was a fucking nurse.
(Please note: I didn’t not say “my fucking mother was a nurse”… I said “my mother was a fucking nurse”. Which is basically the same thing. But not.)
If you think women already lack the ability to empathize with men… wait until you meet a nurse. She will nag you about your health like a late night infomercial which is which will practically CAUSE you to piss blood out’cher ass. But EMPATHY? Forget it. Never- EVER – got a sick day from school. Unfeeling bitch pushed me out the door no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT.
She worked nights. 12 AM to 8 AM. Christmas and New Years too. And if you don’t think this had profound effect on her behavior and mood, you should begin dating a nurse immediately. You’ll be back. And it won’t be to gloat.
She would wake us up in the morning like a siren wakes the army. Not a single bit of gentleness or warmth. The yelling. Bossiness. Barking orders like she knows “what’s best for you” more than YOU do. Even when its not related to your health. My poor father should be awarded the purple heart for living with her.
Nurses also have NO goddam limits. ZERO FUCKING LIMITS. EVERYTHING is fit dinner conversation. Feces. Placenta. I swear it’s fucking disgusting.
Any “sexyness” a nurse projects is pure a bullshit whorror-show. She is numb. A cock is always a “penis”. Her tits are always “breasts”. She’s not charmed or turned on by anything. And she is fascinating by totally disgusting bodily functions. You could be pulling figurative magic tricks out your ass, and it’s like playing tennis with a wall. The wall will remain unfazed like it’s thinking it needs a new coat of paint. Nothing is ever funny to a nurse. Her humorlessness is palpable.
Getting off is like an anatomy class. One nurse I banged was so mannish I actually still refer to it as “my gay relationship”. Way back when I was trying to understand a woman’s pregnancy cycle (how ovulation works and when it is a high-risjk time for pregnancy)….. she explained it to me. But then next time she ovulated she ran out of the bathroom all excited and showed me this glob of white jelly on her fingers. I just about puked in her fucking face.
NEVER AGAIN will I date a nurse. They are without a doubt the most cold, unfeeling clinical cunts anywhere. You’d have more fuck sticking your dick into a cantaloupe.
Tom, I am so sorry that you have had bad experiences with nurses. I agree with some of the things you state here. The sad part about this profession is the loss of empathy amongst our nursing sisters. Witnessing abuse, death, and sickness can cause one to become jaded after awhile. A nurse must constantly look out for herself, her family, and her friends FIRST before her career. If I feel like I do not have the mindset to take care of people, I don’t go to work. That’s just all there is to it. When I feel myself becoming jaded, or if I am coming off cranky to my friends, family members, and patients, I take time off. Family, friends, and patients come FIRST AND FOREMOST for me.
Nurses must be careful when having casual conversations with people that do not work in the medical industry. Talking about placentas, prolapsed organs, and bodily fluids at dinnertime IS inappropriate.
I will say one thing, though. I believe that the environment of nursing is changing dramatically. I’ve had some pretty horrible experiences with clinical instructors and floor nurses. With all of the therapeutic conversation techniques that nurses have been taught in school, one may wonder why nurses are so mean, rude, and abusive. I cannot account for anyone else’s actions or comments. I can only account for my own. The only thing I can do is practice my love walk on a daily basis and treat others how I would like to be treated.
The one thing that I especially like about nursing since starting my career is that it has taught me to set my own ego and pride aside in order to place the needs and best interests of others first. This is something that I apply to all areas of my life now, and my personal and professional relationships have improved greatly since.
I hope that you have a wonderful day and I hope that you have better experiences with nurses in the future. 🙂
No apolz necessary. I laughed so hard writing that, my face still hurts. These aren’t “BAD experiences” they are just “experiences”. Some of them have even multiplied in funny-factor.
When reading the typed word, it’s important to re-read it and imagine another “tone” – which is not present in print. What comes off as a “bad” and “horrible” can actually be intended as extremely funny if you simply IMAGINE a SMILE on the person’s face.
In fact I recently told the story of that militant Nazi nurse who would rrrrrrrrip the drapes open in the morning and speak in full voice as if she was awakening the barracks. The next door neighbor is an unmarried / attractive nurse and I had her laughing so hard her mascara was running – while explaining why men aren’t dating her because she was wondering.
Unfortunately you don’t get any of my intonations here….
but you know, it’s all in the delivery.
Quintus you’re no doubt a great writer but nurses by profession are the most cold, ruthless and pragmatic even for a female.
I dated a nurse for a year. I can confirm this list as fact. All is not well though. Be advised:
1. Nurses are stressed out / depressed.
2. Easy access to prescription drugs and prescriptions. Watch out for the pill poppers
3. The snacks flow freely in the nursing station so your cutie can get to be a fatty quickly (see items 1 and 2 above for early warnings.
i love all the boys here who say they dont want to date a female med student… not all female med students are broke (hello, i come from wealth! no debt here). i doubt most of the “men” who post here make six figures; i am guaranteed to do so (+ inheritance). the men who read this site seriously are so pathetic its a joke. no good looking woman would ever marry you, especially because you’re probably some angry blue collar peasant. anyway, i’m off to get my favorite opal ring restored! later haters
Saying “Not all….” proves nothing. You “come from wealth” but it’s a goddam guarantee MOST nurses don’t. So stop pretending you are some kind of “example”.
You have to generalize that birds fly…. because MOST birds fly. You don’t try and refute it by saying “WELL PENGUINS DON’T!!! NO ONE WILL MARRY YOU!!! YOU GAY FAG WITH A TINY PENIS!!!! CALL ME!!!”
No guy wants to marry a woman who makes more than he does.
I like girls who are financially stable, but whose pussy still gets utterly soaked if she sees me spend $100 on myself. I’ll pass on a girl who’s busy polishing jewellery; the hours it would take to get you wet will not be worth the lifeless 20 minute fuck you have to offer.
Do they teach writing skills in doctor-school?
I’ve never met a nurse who weighed under 200 pounds.
Nurses are absolute sluts; they’ll fuck doctors (especially the ones they hate) in the broom closet. The profession is notorious for rampant adultery.
They’re high-stress and use it as an excuse for why they smoke. (“If she smokes, she pokes.”) They tend to drink a lot. They’ve often got a lot of student loans, but that’s OK, nurses pay their bills on time. (Too many collections can jeopardise their nursing licence.)
Nurses are good for short term game. Just don’t marry ’em.
I’ve met a couple hot nurses but wouldn’t want to date any of them. As someone below me said, many are sluts and more are feminists, yet more still are fat slobs. Reality is I’ve been hospitalized more than most people and I can only think of a couple out of damn near a hundred who even come close to being more than a 7
This article is 100% pure BETAMAX when you get down to it. It is just bad advice, like a lot of the stuff posted here lately.
It would make more sense if you said something like “physical therapist” because there are many more hot physical therapists, they often make more money and they don’t wear scrubs all day. They are generally much more athletic than nurses. They are also too smart for most of the dumb shit on this website.
I would absolutely consider marrying some of the PTs I’ve met. The same criticism of nurses applies, but not to anywhere near the same degree. There is good picking among PTs, not so much with nurses if you ask me.
Nurses tend to be bitches in my view. Same with teachers. Perhaps it’s the high pressure nature of their jobs, but either way, they aren’t pleasant company.
Sorry, but I don’t buy the part about nurses automatically having a brain, just by virtue of having gone through nursing school. There ARE some smart nurses out there, but it does not take a smart person to become a nurse. Some of the biggest imbeciles I have ever met in my life are nurses.
Some nurses are smart people who genuinely care about the profession and helping their patients. But this is not REQUIRED to become a nurse – they let a lot of brain dead morons through as well. A lot of these people are just those who became nurses because they couldn’t cut it as doctors.
One more reason: In my experience, nurses like to dress up and look good while not at work. They wear ugly scrubs all day and want to pretty up when they get home. I had a long term relationship with an executive assistant to the CEO of a bank. She left for work looking smoking hot. Heels, tight pant suits, skirts, hair, makeup. As soon as she came home, off with the makeup, into ugly sweat suit. Her reasoning was that she has to look pretty at work, but wants to be comfortable at home. I got the sweatsuits, the CEO and other co-workers got the tarted up hottie. My current girlfriend (of one year) is a P.A. She gets home and wants to look pretty and sexy, she’s tired of wearing unattractive scrubs.
OH DEAR LORD, hysterical and shared with 3 of my favorite nurses. LOL
My dad dated a nurse. He used to tell me that nurses were all crazy. He said they are not bad for women and they like to screw, but you have to be ready to deal with some strange behavior. They work odd hours and see a lot of sickness and death, and that does something to them. Nursing may be a job well-suited for women of course, but doing it as a career will trip their defenses as seeing people die more often can be expected.
Was considering becoming a nurse. Is the field really that feminist ? Should I be worried as a male who will mind his own business ( if I were a nurse ) and not shit where I eat( have sex with nurses).
I would qualify this a bit. Look for the RN or better. The CNA is a bedpan changer, and can be dumb, dumb, dumb.
I’m in the hospital right now for having my appendix removed. There are some beautiful nurses working in here! I may take this advice up!
I am an RN and I second this emotion.
I fully recon that if you’ve got the success and the game for them, date a woman doctor instead. Feisty and smart is my kinda lady.
