How Feminist Linda Tirado Lied Her Way To $60,000 In Donations And A Book Deal

In late October of this year, a Gawker commenter using the alias “KillerMartinis” posted a short essay entitled “Why I Make Terrible Decisions, Or, Poverty Thoughts”. The title and article were written to suggest that the author had not only personally experienced the hardships described in the piece, but that impoverished conditions were essentially unsolvable…

I make a lot of poor financial decisions. None of them matter, in the long term. I will never not be poor, so what does it matter if I don’t pay a thing and a half this week instead of just one thing?

The article rapidly went viral and was reprinted at The Huffington Post. Many readers responded sympathetically and offers of help flooded in, since “KillerMartinis” portrayed herself as a Sisyphean victim of fate, constantly striving to manage the burden of raising small children while juggling two jobs and college courses. She eventually revealed herself as Linda Walther Tirado and set up a web page for donations, netting approximately $60,000. There are now talks of a book deal, so that she can “educate” Americans on what it’s like to be part of the Working Poor.

Unfortunately for her gullible donors and literary agent, Ms. Tirado is a fraud. She is in fact a middle-class child of privilege who has squandered numerous opportunities while trashing the parents that have bailed her out. America is a place where the poor can better themselves through wits and hard work; similarly, the well-to-do can lower themselves through stupidity and sloth. Ms. Tirado richly deserves a life of poverty, but she has avoided this fate mostly because her parents and in-laws understandably don’t want their grandchildren to live in filth and squalor.

Don’t believe this “poor” woman

I immediately doubted the veracity of the original article based on Ms. Tirado’s pseudonym (poor people generally don’t drink martinis—they drink beer and cheap liquor) and the fact that the article is written in the “Valley Girl” argot affected by spoiled middle and upper-class feminists.

It took a minimal amount of researching her Gawker comment history for me to verify my suspicion. See below for the damning evidence, which include excerpts from her original viral essay, her comment history, her follow-up article in the Huffington Post, and her donation page.

She lies about her motives

Her Gawker piece states this:

There’s no way to structure this coherently. They are random observations that might help explain the mental processes. But often, I think that we look at the academic problems of poverty and have no idea of the why. We know the what and the how, and we can see systemic problems, but it’s rare to have a poor person actually explain it on their own behalf. So this is me doing that, sort of.

But in the past she wrote this:

I write things about poverty occasionally because I have a responsibility to. I feel a certain moral push to write about this thing that is alien to so many people, because I have the words to describe it. I know many people with much more interesting stories than mine, much more heart-wrenching and outrage-inducing, much more beautiful, much less messy. But the people living them did not go to the best schools and did not worry about their SAT scores and don’t know the word prose. They can’t tell their stories in a way that makes sense to the media system we’re working out. And so I wonder: maybe the thing I should be doing is translating their stories into something that uses the right words.

She lies about her work schedule

Her Gawker piece states this:

Rest is a luxury for the rich. I get up at 6AM, go to school (I have a full courseload, but I only have to go to two in-person classes) then work, then I get the kids, then I pick up my husband, then I have half an hour to change and go to Job 2. I get home from that at around 1230AM, then I have the rest of my classes and work to tend to. I’m in bed by 3. This isn’t every day, I have two days off a week from each of my obligations.

But in the past she wrote this:

I work Thurs-Sun nights. Free Mon-Wed.

She’s ungrateful about being bailed out by her parents

Her Gawker piece states this:

When I was pregnant the first time, I was living in a weekly motel for some time. I had a minifridge with no freezer and a microwave. I was on WIC.

But in the past she wrote this:

When my parents came to be there for the birth and they saw what we were dealing with they moved us to Utah and gave us a trailer to live in. And then when we had our second and final daughter they helped us find a house to live in and now we have some space for once.

She lies about her living conditions

Her Gawker piece states this:

We have learned not to try too hard to be middle-class. It never works out well and always makes you feel worse for having tried and failed yet again.

[…]

Junk food is a pleasure that we are allowed to have; why would we give that up? We have very few of them.

But in the past she wrote this:

I am turning my kids’ room into a forest, because I own this house and I can. I’ve found some awesome tutorials on making tree stump and mushroom stools, but I’d be interested in any pictures or ideas that you guys have. I want them to want to play in their own spaces and leave my china cabinet alone.

[…]

Yeah, I just sort of decided that they should have awesome stuff. I don’t want them spoiled, so I don’t want more toys, but I would like them to wake up thinking that life is really cool.

She lies about workplace discrimination, exposes herself as pushy and ungrateful

Her Gawker piece states this:

I would make a super legal secretary, but I’ve been turned down more than once because I “don’t fit the image of the firm,” which is a nice way of saying “gtfo, pov.”

But in the past she wrote this:

You guys, I started my swanky job. It was fantastic except for the following: nobody seems to be sure exactly why I was hired, outside of one specific task that will take maybe 1/20 of my contracted hours. I got the feeling that they hoped I’d be able to branch them out into more outreach, but they’re really uncomfortable with moving into more overtly political strategies and I felt some pushback on anything resembling confrontation.

She pisses away an insurance check and turns her hair into rat’s nest

Her Gawker piece states this:

I am not beautiful. I have missing teeth and skin that looks like it will when you live on b12 and coffee and nicotine and no sleep. Beauty is a thing you get when you can afford it…

But in the past she wrote this:

I was hit by a drunk driver, fucked up my teeth, and took the insurance check before I realized that they would not be covering dental, thankyouverymuch.

I am the queen of conditioning. I bleach/re-dye every month or so, so I keep four separate kinds of oil around. That way I can’t ever run out of them all at once.

She lies about her material possessions

Her Gawker piece states this:

“Free” only exists for rich people.

But in the past she wrote this:

Work issued me a phone, tablet, and laptop

I had a phone screen malfunction and accidentally hit submit. I can’t even post an awesome gif because it’s a new phone and I haven’t figured out pasting.

She exposes herself as a total hypocrite, flunks out of college her first go-around, yet considers herself a literary genius

Her Gawker piece states this:

It’s great that there’s a bowl of condoms at my school, but most poor people will never set foot on a college campus. We don’t belong there.

But in the past she wrote this:

I’m on my first semester back since my late teens, when I earned myself a whopping .48 GPA by not going to class. Ever. So I’m on super-probation and the theory is that they don’t want us to overwhelm ourselves.

So, I get that we can’t close higher education to the masses and all, but does everyone struggle this hard with the stupid when they go back to school? I can’t believe how light the coursework is, or how much bitching commences every day after class.

She tricks the Sisterhood into paying her bar tab

Her Gawker piece states this:

I am not asking for sympathy.

Then a commenter named Greenheart wrote:

She [KillerMartinis] just mentioned that they’re gonna shut off her electricity in 6 hours. If those of us who can afford it all chipped in like $5 each, we could easily fix that problem with no more pain to ourselves than not getting any fancy coffee today. Who’s down?

ETA: KillerMartinis has elected to have me pay the bill for her, so anyone who is interested in helping out can email me and I’ll send you my PayPal username. Thank you so much for all your help, everyone!”

In the end, fools and their money are soon parted.

Family members shouldn’t hold their breaths waiting for this spendthrift to pay her debts now that she has received a windfall.

I am not the first to poke holes in this woman’s testimony. Many of the doubters are fixating on whether her teeth are as bad as she claims. This is actually one of the few things Tirado is honest about (she posted a video showing the stomach-turning evidence). However, she received an insurance settlement and probably blew through the money instead of spending it on treatment.

The reason Tirado’s post went viral is not because it was well-written or based in reality, but because it provided “proof” for the bedrock belief of modern liberals that the poor are unable to wipe their own asses without help from a government program. I hope the soft-hearted people who gave money to this swindler (her take is $60,000) have learned their lesson.

  1. Brilliantly researched truths. It’s dangerous to use logic to explain truths when the culture creation industry has had unlimited resources to change program mass thought since before we were born. Now that you’ve written this, it opens minds. Anyone familiar with The Jenny Erikson Marriage, Life and Divorce (a scripted narrative that people believe is real) should pay attention to this Diomedes piece. Why? Because it provides a glimpse into the development of false reality. I’m not allowed to reveal the depth of the culture creation industry, but you have the power to research it. Diomedes has given truth here on par with Rollo Tomassi’s new book “The Rational Male” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQMnHUTw0s0

    1. Interesting video – the secret to a healthy long term relationship is to constantly game the female, always playing the role of amusing cocky jerk, never ever let your guard down, always and constantly be unpredictable etc.
My final conclusion: in other words, why bother?
I don’t doubt the assertions in that video, but one has to ask himself if its too much hassle for so little reward.

      1. There are so few attractive women to choose from, and each of them has 20-100 orbiters/ supplicant / thirsty pussyworshippers after her.
The advice would be ok, if the odds were better.
Roosh’s newest article on his Roosh site, and the comments section there covers it quite well. Depressing, but amazing info.
Otherwise this is more of the standard bullshit designed to separate you from your money.

        1. I too read that article and agree. In societies that have not yet been contaminated by the Western virus the women one comes into contact with, a man need not be some unpredictable ‘mystery’ cocky, douchebag type to be with a chick; the interactions are far more normal.

      2. Yes too much hassle, so little reward. The majority of males that contact me from the past – mainly people in the areas where I was reared, if not married, they plan to be married, or if divorced… married again. As we both know, they are on a dangerous road designed to force them down a specific path. Of course they will be divorced.
Why will they be divorced? It’s because they have chosen to use deductive reasoning. Rollo Tomassi explains it (in the book). He writes, “The code is often something like this: I need sex + women have the sex I want + query women about their conditions for sex + meet prerequisites for sex = the sex I want… Overtly communicating a desire for reciprocal desire creates obligation, and sometimes even ultimatums.”
In other words, you’re correct, since men CHOOSE to be oblivious to the truth, they WILL be led into a marriage, and statistically speaking, they will suffer for having done so. These are the some of the same men that believe that the DNA of the scripted Duck Dynasty ‘controversy’ is real. If only I could open the vat of magic to show them the spells they are under in putting their reputations on the line to defend this Phil Robertson.
Like the rigged Auburn / Alabama football game each year, it’s the creation of tribes. It was all about one coaches fame the past few years, and now the coach of the other team has made a deal. I know nothing about how well they are playing, but I know Auburn will win the BCS championship because I know what deals were made.
Unaware men continue to worship their sports team instead of improving their own bodies. They focus on the coach, the players and between the games they have their Phil Robertson / Duck Dynasty fix. I haven’t invested time into watching, but I’ve heard that Phil has done decent improv thanks to the coaching, the perfectly crafted script and a little magic.
The GQ interview with Phil Robertson… The best part: He didn’t have to show up anywhere. The writers have written, and now we have a series of culture creation industry ‘controversies’ which keep the ‘would be’ men busy. The distractions keep them from learning the basics of what you are saying, and they will fight to defend their right to destroy themselves.

        1. “The distractions keep them from learning the basics of what you are saying, and they will fight to defend their right to destroy themselves.”
          Well-said.

    2. The piece on Jenny Erickson was interesting, but depressingly familiar. I’m sure her husband thought he had found an “exception” to the modern American female because she claimed to be Christian and conservative. Their daughters will no doubt suffer because of the divorce, but hey, she was bored and has a chance to be famous with her blog. I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets a book deal as well.

  2. Having done a bit of pro bono work for a number of poor it felt like BS when I read it. This is good work, these jackals need to be exposed.

    1. As a dude from a poor background, I was both lucky and smart enough to go to college. I’ve rubbed elbows with people from both classes. She sounds too smart and self aware in her writing to be the real deal. People from poor socioeconomic backgrounds don’t harp on their economic status. They would rather have fun, party, dance, fuck, etc and never dwell on the consequences later. In other words you won’t find them on some intellectual blog talking about themselves articulately, like she does.
What she’s doing is attention whoring and using her hamster to make it seem like it’s not her fault. Beware. You’ll see more like her in the future.

  3. One of the things I’ve been realizing over the past few years is how much deep wisdom is contained in religious tracts. It seems that they’ve done a good job of passing off facile and derisive interpretations of the Bible (Churchianity certainly doesn’t help), but upon second glance I’m seeing more and more to it. For instance, does the situation in this passage sound familiar?
    John 12
4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b]” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you,[c] but you will not always have me.”
“The poor will always be with you” – I’m as broke as the day is long, but that’s because I’m investing in myself, my writing, and my business: I’m a “starving artist” because that’s part of my strategy, and you’d never know this if I didn’t tell you, aside from the junkmobile I drive.
In my experience, the people who claim to be poor, usually have more money than I do: they blame others for their spendthrift ways, and never take ownership of their own lives. Here we are in the richest society that ever existed, and yet we still have the terminally poor?
This is not an economic problem, it’s a moral problem.
Something tells me that shortly after this cash infusion, she’ll quickly be “poor and struggling” again – desperate and frustrated, despite having abundant resources. So there’s your cosmic justice for you.

    1. I agree. I’m an atheist but I see a lot of value in religion, from the personal level (reducing anxiety, helping face uncertainty, giving people meaning) to societal (promoting nuclear family unit, discouraging deviant behavior). I recently added the book “Religion For Atheists” by Alain de Botton to my reading list.

      1. Hah! I just did a philosophical take-down of de Botton last week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGuNpn7m_g4
But that said, I expect that his work has a lot of value (I enjoyed his book on Proust); call it a disagreement with a fellow Truth Seeker, rather than a dismissal of a degenerate feminist.
The modern atheist/theist debate strikes me as profoundly absurd, and completely missing the point. Both sides are arguing against straw men, and debating topics which are largely irrelevant to the survival of Western Civilization.
I’d be interested in reading your review of “Religion For Atheists”.

        1. “The modern atheist/theist debate strikes me as profoundly absurd, and completely missing the point. Both sides are arguing against straw men, and debating topics which are largely irrelevant to the survival of Western Civilization.”
          Correct.
Even most religious people today (I am one of them) aren’t theists. Cf http://johnshelbyspong.com/2005/06/15/can-one-be-christian-without-being-a-theist/ (scroll down to the Q&A, you don’t have to log in to see that.

        2. And for that matter, most Atheists believe in a great deal of what constitutes God in a theologian’s mind; it’s the Athiest+/femi-cult relativists who reject it all.

        3. Well of course not to be a theist you have to literally believe an invisible being plays an active role in hiding the keys.

      2. That is where I disagree, I see no value in religion as it encourages war and primitive behavior, it sees scientific development has heresy, and sends scientists either into exile or into death, and it discourages freethought and freedom of thought. To me a nuclear bomb has more value that religion.

        1. With all respect, I don’t think religion per se encourages war and primitive behavior, although certainly many religious people have fucked up the works throughout history, without a doubt. Religion is a human impulse, and like all human impulses it will manifest itself in imperfect, deeply flawed ways. Yes, there are biblical literalists out there, but it has been my experience (as a member of a mainstream church), that there are more atheists with a fundamentalist/literalist view of religion than actual religious people.
On a completely different note, I have found remarkable value in being a member of a mainstream church. I have close friendships with older, successful men who have been great mentors to me. I can pick up the phone right now and get through to CEOs, powerhouse lawyers, business owners, surgeons, etc. who I know from church. Whereas if I wasn’t a member of their church, my call wouldn’t make it past the receptionist. I meet once a week with a multi-millionaire for coffee and business and personal advice from him, and he says he’s honored to do so. I have made huge strides on self-improvement since becoming a red-piller. Having access to older, successful, male mentors who kick ass in their respective fields has been a godsend. Also, although my church takes a “liberal” stance on social rights, that stand is charitable. My mentors take no shit, and they rule their roosts.

        2. Well believe it or not most the scientists who founded the idea for a nuclear bomb or evolution were catholic priests.

        3. You don’t have to be a theocratic CEO or a fundamentalist to take the red pill, in fact that are myriad men in the manosphere that are atheists, and proud. The scopes trial, the Spanish inquisition, the exile of Galileo, the Salem Witch Trials, and every effort to get certain books banned were led by the religious, also the belief in god, and all the dogmas that come along with it, stifle objective and absolute truth, and for one to find or research objective truth, one must reject religion and the fairy tales, and parables that come with it.

        4. I agree with you that everything you list was an attempt to stifle truth. Not all religions are the same, nor are all denominations. Religious people suffered under those outrages too. If you’re an atheist, more power to you. I get benefits from my religion, that’s all. I have no interest in imposing it on you or anyone else.

      3. Want a lesson from religion look no further than the Garden of Eden. There we were happy blessed with eternal innocence, blessed with no poverty and everything handed to us by God. Then God thought you know what will make man even happier a woman caste from his own flesh. Then a snake tells the woman to eat a sacred fruit bc then she will be worshipped more than God. Well we all know how that ends, we realise she is naked and our sexual drsire was unleashed and for our part of now for lust instead of companionship loving women we too were cursed to till the salted earth that is the essence of original sin! But for all this men now worship women more than God!

    2. She has never been taught how to properly use money. All her life others have just thrown money at her. Even her job has thrown undeserved money at her. She actually thinks that “turning her kid’s room into a forest” and buying junk food are wise ways to spend money. I mean she even admits that she has made poor decisions. The ones she’s admitted to are probably the better ones. Who knows how many idiotic decisions she’s made that she’s keeping secret?
I’ve always been amazed at how people can just take money like that and piss it all away so quickly. Ever seen the people who win millions in the lottery and then spend it all in a week? You’d think that after mindlessly blowing through half their money, they’d start to realize they need to change their ways, and at least save the other half. But who are we kidding; every day we walk among highly-visible obese reminders that most people totally lack self-control.

      1. “She has never been taught how to properly use money. ”
It is not possible to teach women how to use money properly. I never met a woman who knows how to handle money properly. They always have to be told what to do by a man.

  4. In the western world today, BEING AN IDIOT gets rewarded. And being smart gets punished, or at the least, ignored.
Want more proof? An idiot from the UK bought an Xbox One off eBay, and turns out the person sent him a (hilarious) printed picture of an Xbox One box, the same poor-resolution image used in the auction. The auction did not have pictures of the physical Xbox.
The idiot then takes a selfie with it frowning, and puts it up online. Now, at this point, if I had been suckered this hard, I would not WANT to show the world how I got duped.
Not only does the kid get refunded BY eBay according to their Terms of Conditions (it should have ended right there), but Microsoft also ends up buying him an Xbox One.
See, it pays off being a fucking retard.

    1. This is what I call it: crowdsourcing your mistakes. America is all about that life. Unfortunately, only the idiots benefit from this because when a smart person tries this, having seen idiots succeed in it, their situations seem awfully contrived and there is additional outside evidence of their ploy.

    2. I dunno about that.
Under UK law and Ebay’s own terms of service a misleading advertisment is illegal.
Who hasn’t made a mistake or been fooled by someone?
Not me and not most other people either.

      1. I’m not seeing what you’re saying here. I’ve already mentioned above in my first comment that we make mistakes, but most suckers don’t go around telling the rest of the world “IM A SUCKER!”
We all make mistakes. But do you take a selfie of with your mistake and plaster it up for the whole world to see (a la Single moms) ???
And the youth was refunded for his eBay purchase as per your comment on TOS. It should have ended there. I need to make a correction from my original post, it wasn’t Microsoft who refunded it, it was a different tech company. Barstool sports (warning: blue pill to the max) actually had a good writeup about this and it being a problem with western culture as well:
        http://www.barstoolsports.com/m/nyc/super-page/that-idiot-who-bought-a-picture-of-an-xbox-one-in-ebay-scam-given-free-one-by-tech-company/

    3. He was scammed and published this fact. Microsoft took the chance for great advertising at the price of one console. I don´t see nothing wrong with this.

      1. I don’t see anything wrong with it either. I would have done the same if it happened to me. Sad face selfie with my new Xbone…. Good on MS for pitching him some merch.

    4. “And being smart gets punished, or at the least, ignored.”
Well I am a good example of that! LOL!!

  5. It was obvious BS from the start. I am puzzled as to when I read this as I don’t go to sites like Huffington Post or the Guardian because they are so utterly full of shit but I remember reading this article somewhere and disbelieving every word of it.
Leftists need BS to justify their worldview.
Anyone else who believed her deserves to be ripped off.

  6. Yeah, being poor sucks and the system is unfair. The working poor ARE a real thing, and I feel badly for them. I don’t feel badly for people who are poor as a result of their own stupid actions, so I don’t feel badly for this fraud.

    1. I happen to know several couples who would qualify as “working poor” by most reasonable definitions. Typically, both spouses work long hours at jobs that have offered few pay bumps after 10+ years of service. Because they have small children, college is not currently an option. Our current economic system offers little in the way of help to those who are hard-working, but not college material. I know other couples who both have bachelor’s degrees, but are stuck working jobs they are overqualified for. These people have pride, so they are not gaming the system; meanwhile, the welfare filth can “earn” 20-30,000 dollars worth of benefits by combining Section 8, “free” school lunches, food stamps, etc. I can show you neighborhoods where every child is on the school meal program, but every home has a 50 inch or greater flat screen TV.
I don’t have all the answers, but I believe enforcing our immigration laws would increase the wages of native-born unskilled workers far more than any hike in the minimum wage. A policy of “No husband, no welfare” would be even better. Then we would see how all the “independent” single mothers who “don’t need no man” would fare.

  7. How is this even legal? I’ve heard stories of women convicted for telling people they had cancer and collecting money. It’s called fraud. This is hardly different. Someone from Gawker should press charges.

  8. Show’s how people are easily duped by sob stories. If you are physically healthy, it doesn’t matter where you are in life, you can become whatever you desire with hard work and dedication and perseverance. Being born poor is not a choice. Staying poor is.

      1. There’s no indication that she actually planned all this. She basically just complained and got lucky.

        1. Bingo!!!
She complained in the right place, surrounded by her fellow dumb-asses with spare change.

    1. Ahhh. I see at least 4 people don’t like the fact that I believe that impoverished scum are sub- human and should be sterilized, and forced to abort their worthless brood.
I give thousands of dollars a year to various animal charities yet I have yet to give one thing dime to any human charities. Poor people are pure scum. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about the poor scum of darkest africa or the US of A. If you can not feed your kids, both you and them should be euthanize.

  9. As someone who was homeless for ten months and never asked anyone for a dime, I called bullshit the moment I read this woman’s story. Not only is her attitude TERRIBLE, but she points the finger at others constantly.
She reminds me of someone who had been a good friend of mine since junior high school. When we were 12, I warned her at least once a week that she needed to brush her teeth. She blew me off, and by 25 she needed several teeth pulled and her “smile teeth” were foul. She cried about being too poor to afford dental care, and obviously it was everyone else’s fault that she was in this situation. Lack of self care, lack of foresight, lack of responsibility – these are the real culprits. This same chick turned down a free two-year scholarship and instead chose to squat in an abandoned house and cry about how she didn’t have running water or heat.
There are services for the poor. They aren’t great, but they exist. Basic dental, basic health coverage, and DHS will try to help you find work, housing, and education.
Also, .48 GPA? How is that even /possible/? She cared JUST ENOUGH to take a few tests, I suppose.

  10. I don’t know anything about this woman outside of this article, but I do know of many many similar cases. The fact that women like this can get $60,000 money from idiots on the internet is the biggest case for the fact that idiots have too much money nowadays.
I guess I should be mad but I’m not. In the end it’s just money flowing from idiots to idiots, and then back to other idiots, to finally be scooped up by actual smart people in whose hands it will stay. And no one is more deserving.

    1. Upper middle class people fear being lower middle class so much, that they are willing to give someone like this woman a few dollars. Identification. When I was an assistant to a professor in Uni (at 20 years old!, I gave classes to a room of 104 students on Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Marx, etc) one guy from a posh neighborhood came to ask for money from the fellow students because his father could not work because he had cancer (mind you, we have Universal Healthcare in Argentina, so most things are covered, and private insurance is relatively cheap also) and they could not maintain the same living conditions. I told them to get out of the classroom because I was giving a class, and lots of students gave me the evil eye.

  11. I remember seeing this article too and thinking, “this sounds a little too bad to be true,” and it seems insulting to try and parlay that article into a website to raise you out of poverty via solicited donation. Then it all turns out to be a lie? Absolutely unforgivable behavior.

  12. Reading Linda’s post, and all the support she is getting hurts my brain. She’s pathetic. Total victim mentality. Even if her story was 100% accurate, I still wouldn’t have sympathy. It’s nice having a website like ROK to remind me that not everyone out there is an idiot.

  13. I have posted this article on her behalf, I thought this woman understood what it’s like to be poor, being a poor working-class man myself; I thought this woman understood, because she lived through it. Thank goodness I didn’t give her any money, but now I will question someone who writes about being poor if they actually lived in poverty, this woman is a swindler; nothing more.

    1. Maybe you should write about your experiences. I never considered myself poor, because my parents would always have offered me food and a bed if I needed it, but I remember how nerve-wracking it was to drive a crap-can car that was always on the verge of breaking down, and how dangerous it was when I had to put the car in neutral and push/steer the damned thing into a gas station after it stalled in the middle of a busy intersection.

  14. Waahburger with a side of French-cries for Table 3… real poor people are too busy working and scraping-by to ruminate about stuff and then write about it all day.

  15. ” She eventually revealed herself as Linda Walther Tirado and set up a web page for donations, netting approximately $60,000. ”
It never ceases to amaze me how when a woman asks for money lots and lots of men automatically puts their hands in the pockets and give her money. Think pretty girls asking for money in any busy shopping mall…right?
And yet when a man asks for money, no matter WHAT he has done, no matter HOW good a man he is, the VAST MAJORITY of men will actually hate on him. They will say things like “get a real job” or “men should pay for themselves”.
I am a good example of this. Despite being willing to put in 4,000+ hours of unpaid labour to the benefit of other men. Despite being the only man to video record a family court matter and put it on YT to PROVE the criminality of the courts. Despite being willing to publicly take on three different national guvmints for the benefit of other men.
When I asked so much as to be paid for a book (since asking for donations never works for men, just ask Earl Silverman) how do men react? They call me a liar, that is a popular one. “You didn’t do what you said you did.” They tell me I should “get a real job” like being a burger flipper is a more noble cause than saving the lives of the tens of thousands of men who kill themselves in the divorce courts each year.
Really. The list of insults I have been subjected to for doing no more than offering a book for sale so that I can contribute that to food and rent while I am being persecuted is quite endless.
Men would do very well to ask themselves why is it that men will throw money at the least deserving of women while they will throw insults at the most deserving of men. I think that is much more worthy of discussion than simply pointing out more woman is a liar. I mean, really, where is the “news” value in that?

  16. THIS IS A GREAT CHRISTMAS FEEL GOOD STORY.
You guys are missing the beauty of this expose. Linda Tirado did not put a gun to anyone’s head to get that money. There are umpteen amount of liars and scamers out there, and will always be regardless of which society or era.No, you should laugh at all the gullible goofs who payed her. I am all for liberals parting with their own money for their idiotic and un-researched beliefs.
Diomedes thank you for this wonderful Christmas story.Sir, you made my day.
    Sincerely,
    Menton

    1. The problem is that the people she scammed will likely never find out. If they did, there’s a slight chance they might get angry and rethink their position on The War On Poverty [“We declared a War On Poverty….and Poverty won.”]
Huffington Post was using this woman’s fake sob story to champion no cuts to the Food Stamp program, and I believe they achieved their goal. Millions read the fake story of woe via Huffington Post, The Guardian, Gawker, The Nation, etc. How many of those people will read this expose?

  17. Utah….rich mormon parents? The church is big on taking care of people you can hear about them paying someones mortgage while the person gets back on their feet.

  18. Within the first 24 hours this was posted at HuffPo Tirado clarified in the comments section that she was not writing about herself per se but a conglomerate of poor people she had observed over the years. If people sent donations to her after that, they are fools and have only themselves to blame. However, as this is the “season of giving” there’s no harm done. Hopefully Tirado herself will “give back to the community”, and keep it movin’ by “gifting it forward” in the future.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

    1. I actually knew about that! Ms Tirado asked her fellow feminists if it was okay for her to have a lesbian affair. No points for guessing whether she received “You go, grrl!” encouragement from the Sisterhood. That was left out because the piece was too long already.
From what I could gather from Tirado’s postings, it appears that the husband’s mother dumped his father because she felt bored. The poor schmuck joined the service and wound up marrying a carbon copy of his selfish mother.
There is no group of men who need the red pill more than our soldiers. They are men upholding traditional values in a society that will only punish them for doing what used to be “The Right Thing”.

  19. Of course my other comment is going to get caught in the spam trap because of the URL, go search “killermartinis cheating”. She has an old post where she is talking about how she wants to cheat on her husband that has PTSD.
