Excuse me for being confused by your statement. However, if you read the decision of the majority and the dissent of the minority in Obergefell v. Hodges you will see it was based on the 14th amendment. This is not a law, but as the name clearly states, an amendment. There is a significant difference between the two. It is also not part of the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights refers to the first ten amendments of the constitution. If you are going to call people ignorant you could at least get your own facts straight. Also, it is of interest to note that in all other cases regarding due process and illegal discrimination (14th amendment) the court has found that it is constitutional to discriminate against traits that are mutable. Meaning traits that can change over time, such as poverty, can be discriminated against. Sexual orientation is a mutable trait, meaning unlike race it can change over time, and often does. So under all precedents set up to this point it should not be protected under the 14th amendment.
The Federal government has no authority over marriage, period.
I believe the Ninth and Tenth Amendments even state that any power not explicitly granted to the federal government (or denied the State) in the Constitution is the purview of the state and the people. And are meant to expressly forbid the Federal government from assuming control of, or expanding influence over, those rights not itemized as its obligation in the Constitution. The idea was to limit the government’s authority over personal liberty, and the law was written to err on the side of the majority (i.e: We the People).
