Spring Break Is A Slutty American Pastime For All Ages

Like many other males in their 20s who live in the frigid latitudes of the United States, the long and harsh winter months have many of us often planning well in advance for a sunny escape.

Since my particular line of work happens to coincide with many college spring break schedules, I am privy to witness the debaucherous behavior of the revelers in all of its alcohol-induced glamour. This year, I decided to switch up my usual spot in the Sunshine State for the white sand beaches of Mexico.

While many of you may consider such travel arrangements a golden ticket to loose college girls farther than the eye can see, that was not at all the reality of the situation on the ground. Instead, the town where I had naively conceived as popular enough yet infinitely tamer than Cancun was overrun by high school-aged girls from stateside.

The Good

She definitely is now “well-traveled” and knows how Mexicans really live.

Now, it would be easy to go on via countless anecdotes about the behavior that occurred right in front of me, but I would rather tell you the best display of sluttiness that was the most disconcerting.

On the last evening of the trip, I strolled down the infamous Quinta Avenida (even though it shares the name of Fifth Avenue, rest assured that it’s a tad less classy), which houses most of the nightclubs and late night bars in addition to street vendors hounding you to live up to their high expectations of frivolous, American consumers.

As those of us on ROK know, a girl who claims to be well-traveled actually spends the vast majority of her vacation hooking up with as many dudes as possible. Nevertheless, as the tale goes, the Easter holiday took place that very same day, and I happened to still have a few hundred pesos that I preferred to use instead of being monetarily raped by exchanging them back to dollars.

Strolling down the street around midnight with the humid air of the Caribbean accentuating the party ambiance at every turn, one of the city’s major clubs was swarmed with voluptuous, young partiers waiting in line to enter.

Equipped with mini-skirts and shorts barely below their crotches, I thought that I had the luck of a leprechaun who had found his pot of gold in the forum of sexily bronzed, busty bodies. Sure enough, I told myself, it would only be a matter of time before moseying on my way to getting a college flag.

March Madness paled in comparison to the bounce that was playing out right before my eyes and the eventual slam dunk that seemed all but certain.

“Where did you all get those cards and bracelets? I noticed they’re not charging your group cover,” I inquired to get into a social mood and pry for other information pertaining to their whereabouts.

“Oh! Well, our whole group got them at the hotel in advance!”

My initial reaction: Jesus Christ—whose own celebration was, at best, on the back burner of these girls’ minds—they must be really down to party if they’re that organized.

A mere few minutes later, I joined the caravan on the rooftop terrace and gawked at the spectacle. Scantily clad bodies were fist pumping with one hand and downing a cocktail from a neon plastic cup in the other with others dancing on a platform for all to see.

I began to wonder if this is how a scene from the original Girls Gone Wild from the 90’s would have been filmed if it weren’t for the simplicity of now finding similar porn on the internet at the click of a button. Alas, into the grinding, ass-romping mosh pit I went to take in the moment.

The Bad

Then, something freaked me out. On the entire outer perimeter of the dance floor was a group of middle-aged adults staring, scowling, and seething with contempt yet standing aimlessly. I kept trying to put two and two together but could not come up with a logical answer to appease my curiosity.

After sitting down next one of the lurkers in his mid 40’s or so, the elderly chat came out in full force so I could get to the bottom of this mayhem.

“Beautiful night tonight isn’t it?”

“Yeah. Nice change from back home,” he said in a soft voice.

“Where’s back home at?”

“In Michigan,” the responses became short and ripe with discomfort.

“So, you must be with that large group, I take it? It must be a group trip of some sort?”

“It’s their school trip.”

“Oh…so you…are all teachers?”

“Parents. It’s their senior trip”

“Is this how everyone celebrates Easter in Michigan?” I couldn’t resist, and what made it even better was just how much he didn’t appreciate the comment.

My expectations of Michigan being “pure” did not live up to the commercial.

The Ugly

A whirlwind of thoughts invaded my mind: This is your child’s parentally chaperoned senior trip? Not in Rome to visit the former stomping grounds of heroic gladiators at the Coliseum? Not in France to appreciate the immensely talented artists and sculptors of the Louvre?

It all came crashing down in one swoop. These girls, who had rightfully made themselves the objects of all the men’s objectifying, were most likely barely 18 years old with some probably even younger. All of their licentious behavior was being casually condoned by their parents, who idly stood there as onlookers to a circus.

What father would be proud of a daughter like this?

Although I am not a father, my paternal instincts emerged in a way never previously experienced. What kind of man would allow his teenage daughter to act that way in public? Where is the responsibility in raising her to be lady-like?

And to top it all off, why would you plan in advance to go to one of the busiest nightclubs in the city as a parent with your kid? Furthermore, why would you even pick such a place as a senior trip destination in the first place?

All I know is that I don’t think there were busy taking tours of Mayan ruins or enrolling in Spanish language immersion courses during the day. After bearing witness to this level of decadence—and not to mention the select few who eventually needed help walking out of the place—I’m not really sure, in matters of cultural decline, which way is down from here.

      Society has failed girls, and boys, by extending the ‘childhood’ phase. At 14 a Roman boy could join the legion, and become head of household. Now some things we have to adapt to, but this extending of education and childhood beyond 18 is getting past the point of ridiculous. We’re fighting biology, and we’re going to lose in the end as a species.
      We need to restructure education so that (around 17-19, at the LATEST – for most occupations) a man and woman can find gainful employment and start a family. Only then will this start to change.

        1. Not really. You’d be changing education, and ripping away at a tenet of feminism at the same time. Girls (and guys really) wouldn’t have those extended childhood years to be children. Girls who didn’t change would become low value even quicker than today (really, you aren’t an adult to much of society until after college at 25-26) and their looks have already started to go downhill. This is expected!
          Now, turn it to being an adult before 20 again, heck lets just make it straight 18 and you get done with regular schooling (for most jobs, specialty careers like medical doctors, et al., will always require more training) that most people would consider at 26 today! Imagine how quickly the slut syndrome would fall aside when the first group is suddenly competing against a large number of younger women. Younger women who see the failures at 26 trying to hook higher status guys, who are now chasing them because they are established enough to be gainfully employed at a younger and (by 22 in most cases) will have a career started.
          Guys almost always date a couple of years younger than themselves, usually 2 is the minimum, quite often 4, if I recall properly. Shrink the time girls are able to slut it up in extended childhood (nothing is free, guys get less time too) and you’ll see a dramatic shift.

          We would be restructuring the system to be year round (we’re not an agrarian society anymore) among other things. There would still be plenty of ‘academic training’ involved. In fact, we’d be doing more of it because we need workers who can solve problems. What good is a welder if s/he can’t solve a problem while welding? None. What good is a programmer without problem solving skills? None. We need to eliminate the feelgood bullshit, and crank down on real-word skills. Those aren’t necessarily physical, but the ability to Recognize, Evaluate, and Act on problems.
          Kids would still be able to go to college, but (and this is key) it shouldn’t be necessary for most careers after this change. When you graduate from the new secondary education, you have all the basic skills to be an entry level welder, programmer, et al. In fact on the job training should be minimal, no worse than today after college. The biggest losers in business would be the ones that like to use H1-B’s, as they’d have little (or no) excuse to use them, and in reality they’d make less sense since the new graduates wouldn’t be carrying $50k-$200k plus in debt so they wouldn’t need high salaries to start.
          The biggest losers are the universities. The shuttering of unnecessary campuses would be swift and brutal. Many could possibly live on in other educational roles, but they’d no longer be the cash cows of today. Nothing in return is a bit harsh, because many people do graduate with useful degrees. Mostly it’s the women who would get butt-kicked here because that English lit degree is useless in comparison to the 18yo with real skills, unless you’re becoming an English Lit teacher. HR would die a painful death for the most part.

When you’re younger you want to have go out, get wasted, and fuck. People who are older have more responsibilities, and they’re pissed off because they can’t go out, get wasted, and fuck. — In reality it’s that the younger you are, the more open you are to the world because you’re still exploring it on a level that an older person doesn’t. Older people have more experiences, and often perspective (not to be confused with wisdom) on things. An older female will often tell a younger one the dangers of misspent youth. An older male will often warn the younger about certain dangers with work or women. These tidbits are not necessarily wisdom, but perspective from their personal experiences, thus they often do not apply overall. As the young person ages, they will develop firmer perspectives themselves, some liberal or not, and see things through their own lenses of the world.           In reality, we’ve created an extended childhood, with the attendant idleness, and that’s caused far more “unrestrained” behavior than most acknowledge. You know, it’s a lot harder to be a feckless bed hopper when you work the “9-5” and have real responsibilities unlike our extended adolescence today. I find people who insist religion is the answer to this to be hilarious. Do you have some mystical world view that people weren’t just as horny and stupid in the centuries past? My goodness good sir, I’ve dealt with plenty of older people (personal and business life) who would be well over 100 today that could tell you a thing or two about dating in late 19th century that would probably make you indignant and preachers turn purple.
          In reality, idleness creates more unrestrained sexual behavior than lack of religion. Go to a place like Mexico City, and there’s plenty of girls who give it up awful easily for a country where (towards the center anyway) it was not uncommon for women to not go to bars unescorted by a relative or someone trusted by their parents. Idleness, however, with the warm climate, led to quite a bit “unrestrained” sexual expression. Religion may help limit it a little bit, but honestly man, idleness is a bigger threat than individualism. For clarification, by “academic” I mean complicated philosophical considerations of the sort that you’re average man on the street isn’t likely to trouble himself with, not general thought itself. That doesn’t mean they’re stupid, far from it. And yes, of course the skilled trades require thought to some degree, but not the same kind of thinking that universities, 100+ years ago, were concerned with when the transmission of a classical liberal education from one generation to the next was their expressed purpose.

They’re idealists by nature. All end up failing of course, if given the opportunity, but for most of human history, they weren’t given the opportunity to try. That’s the operative point. If not for their own long-term good, then for the good of society. If it doesn’t, they will act accordingly, and with those bad decisions, will come negative consequences for all.

If people are prevented from moving into responsibility sooner, they will continue to think and act in ways that are utopian, as children are apt to do.           Some of that “complicated” training would still exist. Why? We need people to be able to think creatively, and classical education is the best way for people to learn to think for themselves. Critical understanding, in particular, is something that left and right toss to the side in education. The OP mentioned speaking to a father who had a “soft voice” and seemed agitated which makes me picture him being pecked into the trip by a wife who encourages children to “be themselves” and “do what they want” and as a parent not to “control them” and him letting her lead.
    Whelp sometimes “being yourself” is a pretty terrible idea because who you are sucks and if that’s the case strive to be better and as a parent if you see your kid could potentially become a loser, get off your butt and do some dang parenting don’t just let it happen. Children don’t need parents to be their friends they need structure, discipline, consequences, rules, a parent who will see them going down the wrong path and seek to correct not encourage bad behavior as that is their job.
    My parents were too permissible mostly because my father allowed my mother to run things and sadly my sister ended up being one of the town hussies, pregnant twice by some loser with a kid she can’t support amongst other grivences. It’s not a good look so teach your children just a *tad* better because life will teach them if you won’t, then again, I’m pretty sure life lessons sometimes include death, lifelong scars if you’re lucky so maybe learn to say no and adopt a strong backhand. Being strict may not make you popular but at least there’s a much greater chance of your kid living long enough to thank you for it later.
